You have to be really insecure to get heated over this topic.

Hip-Hop started in the Bronx, New York, USA.

It was created/started by African American youth.

It was here thanks to earlier genres like funk, jazz, disco, soul, reggae... Influenced by black people within and outside the country from it's birth until the present day... But hip-hop is African-American at its core. 100%.

Hip hop is NYC culture end of the day. To me. Imo. Peace :manny:
Most of the children living in NYC at that time were children of the South.
Disco King Mario was from North Carolina.
The majority of Caribbean music that time was American influenced.
There was no "cultural exchange" or "circular influence"
There was "(semi-static) large group inspiring (mobile) smaller group" and that's all.

I'm going to ask you in clear English
What was your motivation for posting anything about "herc" and your mythology after the CORRECT information was posted in this thread?
Are you of Caribbean descent?
Are you from NYC, London, or Toronto?
Because Kool Herc is credited as the founder. I’m from fukking Texas, and know more about this than any nikka in this thread

General echo's 1978 album for reference, listen to his deejaying style and then yellowman, very little difference, then call back to U roy and you"ll see the difference, then the faster digital rhythms created a new breed of deejay in the mid 80s, the most famous style mimicked by many till today.

i guess i'll agree to disagree. Kool Herc is still the father. Listening to some random nikkas from Brooklyn isn't really factual information either. Kool Herc is in both the Smithsonian Institute as well as the Black History Museum as the founder of hiphop. I'll believe them over some random dusty nikkas from Bushwick lol
