the only category that's debatable was 'lyricist of the year'
and since they had that stubborn mind set of not giving two 5 mics albums in a close span - biggie receiving 4.5 just wasn't fair
so it was only right to make it up to him

The Source Awards 95 was the BEST awards show of all time, but y'all wanna put weight in a Magazines award show that depended on Bad Boy and Death Row at the time? lol

Y'all know waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than that. They split them awards pretty much down the middle to appease the two factions.

:yeshrug: damnnnnnnn....

you are the 1st black person i've EVER heard that takes thriller over OTW

:yeshrug:to each is own ..... i guess :francis:

How many Black people do you know breh? :stopitslime:

There's a reason Thriller sold a gazillion copies. Black people around the world (not just NYC) love that album. Didn't Rihanna do some "makossa" shyt a couple years back? "Wanna Be Startin Somethin" was HUGE. Imo, the Blackest song MJ ever did because it combines African vibes, steel pan (Caribbean vibes) and African-American vibes. I think I read somewhere Quincy Jones said that it was meant to be the joint where MJ shouts out all Black people, and it was deliberately placed FIRST on the album :wow:

I think the "Thriller is for cacs" thing is silly as fukk, but I understand where it comes from. Thriller's first single was that Paul McCartney weak shyt. And Black people were like: "here we go. This nikka selling out."

Thriller is less Black disco than Off The Wall, but that alone doesn't make it lesser than OTW.

Who thinks NY State of Mind is a better record than Shootouts on IWW??

I'll wait.. :sas2:

It's not. And I prefer NY State of Mind 2 over the original also.

NY State of Mind still a classic doe.

IWW is in no appreciable way better than Illmatic, it's just that most of these younger fans were introduced to Nas at this point in his career, because the album was such a commercial success relative to Illmatic, it was also easier to digest than the sometimes dogmatic lyricism in Illmatic. Also even though they were lyrically comparable the production in IWW was wildly uneven.
