Word I was just going off of something I read about a population in west Africa whose diet was almost solely yuca root. Trying to find anything about anthropology & nutrition isn't easy without access to specialist database, any common google search just gives me links to crazy paleo blogs
Ahh I see.I was just referencing my ebooks / power slides from my bio / nutrition courses...

:patrice: Well I generally tend to stay on the leaner side of things. I'm only 5'9 / 5'10 170-175lbs.

Seeing as you're a lot bigger and active, 180g is probably approaching the upper limit of what is needed for you gain / maintain muscle on a consistent basis.

The main point @lotty was trying to address revolves around the concept of people are consuming protein amounts way over what is necessary. Which I agree.

Thanks breh and @lotty too. I'ma hover around that 180 range and see how it goes. I eat a pretty balanced diet with tons of fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts so balance isn't an issue for me. My weekly meat usually is Sardines 2-3 times per week at most, and then fish on Sunday. I do eat yogurt every single day though.

Heavy muscular development is the result of lots of cell growth, which is a feature of cancer. Maybe a premium on encouraging that kind of growth is bad...

Another thing that's weird is there's tons of serious body builders who even take drugs to get that big PLUS eat loads of meat and are still alive and well like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

You'd think you'd hear about a lot of these body builders getting cancer if it was that serious, so if it's not for them, then for regular casual lifters/eaters like us, we probably have nothing to worry about as long as we eat like we have some sense.

Honestly man, at the end of the day, the most important thing to do is eat a balanced diet and stay active. Only reason I take shoots at protein is because I know all the cats who go crazy about not reaching their "daily intake", when in reality their probably already taking in far too much, and just urinating it right back out within their next restroom visit, thus wasting excessive money on food and shakes...

Actually there's a lot truth to that. You want to fight / cure cancer? Eat a lot of vegetables. There's literally vitamins in vegetables whose' main job is to attack cancer producing agents :wow:

*heats up bag of spinach and brown rice* :ahh:

Even in the more scientific Lyle McDonald etc type diets they're never saying you can't eat x amount of veggies basically, unless its something with significant carb value like a potato.

I dunno breh. I basically stopped trying to be scientific about my diet. I don't bodybuild (100% of my shyt is martial arts now). I basically eat 30% meat, 50% veggies, 20% some type of carb. I feel pretty good these days (don't judge lol i took this for a female :mjpls:). I still do intermittent fasting tho.

:heh: you good dawg, you stay active and eat a balanced...

Cats like me look fit, but probably lack the stamina to even run a mile, much less compete in martial arts...

Speaking of Lyle Mcdonald, you ever see @Spliff 's progress picture. shyt is surreal..

Yeah man, I feel pretty good and think i have a solid amount of muscle in that pic (took it last week, i'm 5'8" 185). I could definitely cut up more but i felt my concentration wavering a lot trying to cut carbs and do standing meditation for long periods of time. I'm sure you can run a mile tho :heh: :usure:

edit: I'm sure Spliff and the gym boys are ripped by now. I havent been in there in ages. Just don't really lift much besides deadlift and squat tho.

Those coutries rely on mostly maize for food, which is around 3 grams of protein per 1/4 cup. Add to the fact that it is llw in fiber and high jn sugar which uses up amink acid, can you see why they would be in low protein states?.

Now, look at places like india wo eat more beans and peas and other carbs. They arent suffering from protein issues.
its called corn breh.. u just walk off the mayflower or something?

Straight straight, that's still a good range. Deadlifts and squats are definitely the way to go in regards to weight training. Yeah a mile is nothing to me, but a lot of cats who mainly weight train can't, which I find problematic within itself. :smh:

Man what I tell you about cutting carbs. That shyt is counterproductive, especially in regards to weight training. You can still lose weight / gain weight / muscle / mass etc by eating a steady supply of carbs. The RDA is like 300grams per day. I've only suffered from fatigue when attempting a low carb / high fat diet.

:comeon: you should have immediately recognized this
Lose weight / being more cut up = lower calories and low to medium intensity cardiovascular exercises(martial arts / jogging / power walking)
Gaining weight / gain mass = more calories and high intensity cardiovascular exercises( martial arts, sprinting, weight training)

And he's spliff's log: http://www.thecoli.com/threads/my-ud2-experience.12646/

Dude is an inspiration. It would have been like 10x as sweet(pause), if dude was previously overweight or something...

Lowkey I kinda did lol, that's why i stopped being so harsh on it. I feel like i stay around the same Bf% as i was when i was cutting too. I used to be like :why: at brehs like Berkhan staying cut while eating cheesecake and shyt. I dunno man, transitioning from bodybuilding to traditional martial arts is kinda tough simply because you have to remodel your body and movement and that means losing some mass. I think @Blackking is doing a little bit of bodybuilding with his MA and he can tell you it's a pain :shaq2:
