morris day definitely will have one. he posts here too.

musical youth was bigger than 702 and had a controversial story to tell.

i use the top "life after" artists(not counting BBD) as a barometer. if karyn white & shirley murdock dont get an unsung, then i cant see 702 & alot of these other names getting one.

i'd love to see 702 get that one hour special. i can at least say that theyre borderline and it helps that meelah is currently a tv-one star.

Unsung need to stop playing and make that Force Md's episode.

was trying to think of a good 80s group for an episode. Man this would be perfect.

The point about the legacies is a good one. I've been trying to figure out the requirements because it basically seems like everyone except the biggest of stars. That makes me wonder, what about someone like Tevin Campbell? For an R&B artist he was as good as it got in popularity from about 92-94, but did he really become a mainstream star? And he seemed to fall out of the spotlight quickly? At first thought, I was thinking too big. Then I was like, damn his time on top was short, but Hi-Five was popular for about the same amount of time. Freddie Jackson and the Spinners had way more hits but ended up literally unsung. I looked back at Tevin's catalog and performances. Say what you want about him(hence the Unsung nod)but damn that dude could sang and had Q and Al B behind him. :whoo:.

does anyone sound this good live now?

alot of the time it is the biggest of stars on unsung.

its about lost legacies. the thing is, darn near all black legends become disregarded over time unless theres some campaigning going on for them via the industry.

shoot, bone thugs is this season's rap episode. they sold more rap records than any group ever, and were bigger than 2pac & biggie at one point. theyre the personification of this show actually.

as far as tevin campbell goes, of course he was a mainstream star. and him dissappearing quickly like he did, is not a knock. it was so easy to fall off with the quickness back then. its not like now where you can fall off & drop trash for 10 years and still remain relevant.

They damn sure wasn't bigger than 702 was.

for our peer group, they werent.

thats it tho. and thats the difference. 702 rings absolutely no bells with alot of people.

plus musical youth had a much more intriguing story to tell. meanwhile, 702 can wrap their whole story up on a 30 minute episode of "life after".

ehh, they had a lil bit more than that.

but even if that was true, look at where that took them. and then look at the story that they had to tell.

702 has nothing to match that. and dont get it twisted, i do indeed want 702 on unsung. im just saying dont get your hopes up.

edit: look at martha wash. shes getting an episode. thats a story people want to hear.

702 went from a roach infested apartment (At least the Grinstead sisters did) to singing for Sinbad to getting a deal with Michael Bivens to losing one of the sisters to breaking up over bullshyt. They have a story.

that story can be summed up in the 1st 3 minutes of "life after".

i'd rather they be on unsung. i might even take it back to middle school and hump the bed while i watch this chit. hell, i get the urge to do that when i watch meelah prance around on r&b divas.

but at best, theyre borderline. heres the reasons why i dont get my hopes up with them:
- they were big but not huge
- they werent around long to make up for it.
- they dont have a juicy or scandlous story to tell to make up for the lack of music to talk about.

if they do get in, it will be years from now when tv-one starts running out of names. and thats only if they dont already do a "life after" on them.
