Yeah, and the fact is, these old ass employers want to do that long hours shyt and young people are mad distracted with technology and all. And like someone said, too much sleep deprivation will kill you.
A terrible combination. Their 'work long and hard' mentality is just too old fashioned in this day and age with so many new things to do. And yeah the technology is improving our lives and fukking it up at the same time :/

The 21 st century is filled with wonders. Too bad people think that humans are made to work all the time.

To think that the vast majority of us have to spend a third of the prime of our lives doing shyt we either hate or have to put up with in order to survive in this society engineered on sheer capitalism.. and then we have to spend another third of that sleeping. take away travel and eating and what fukking time do we really have to enlighten ourselves, enjoy ourselves and live full lives? shyt is vexing me

And that's just a normal healthy life to, if a person had cancer or something then it'd be horrible having to work then never enjoy fun

To have to struggle while bearing such a burden.. I would never do it myself but I can see how some people can't take it and kill themselves.
I'm just gonna try and make my money work for me in the future as much as possible, instead of slavin my ass for a paycheque that essentially vaporises on rent, bills, etc.

Eye-Opener: Naps Linked with Higher Risk of Death

Credit: Sleeping man photo via Shutterstockdaily naps lasted an hour or more were 32 percent more likely to die over the study period.

The findings held even after the researchers took into account many factors that could affect people's risk of death, such as their age, gender, body mass index (BMI), whether they smoked, how much they exercised, and whether they had certain pre-existing medical conditions (such as diabetes, cancer or asthma). [Top 10 Spooky Sleep Disorders]

In particular, naps were linked with an increased risk of dying fromrespiratory diseases. And the link between napping and risk of dying was highest among the younger people in the study, those between ages 40 and 65, who were nearly twice as likely to die during the study period if they napped for an hour or more, compared to those who did not nap.

The reason for the link is not known. It may not be napping per se that's unhealthy, but rather, that those who tend to nap also have undiagnosed medical conditions that affect their risk of dying, the researchers said.

"Further studies are needed before any recommendations can be made," the researchers, from the University of Cambridge, wrote in the May issue of the American Journal of Epidemiology. "Excessive daytime napping might be a useful marker of underlying health risks, particularly respiratory problems, especially among those 65 years of age or younger," they said.

The study involved more than 16,000 people in England (where napping is not a cultural norm) who answered questions about their napping habits between 1998 and 2000, and were followed for 13 years.

Some studies have suggested that "power naps" of less than 30 minutes can be beneficial, but the new study could not specifically look at the effect of power naps, because it asked participants only whether their naps lasted more or less than an hour.

Sleep apnea, or frequent pauses in breathing during sleep, can make people sleepy during the day, and is also linked with an increased risk of dying over a given period. The new study could not directly take into account whether people had sleep apnea, but people who had a high BMI and took medications for high blood pressure were considered likely to have sleep apnea, the researchers said.

Future studies should more precisely measure sleep apnea, and should investigate whether daily naps are linked with physiological changes that might be harmful, the researches said.

People work and damn near die just to prove that theyare mmaking it in this world. Americans are overworked and underpaid as it is. People gonna regret working so much when they hit 65 with nothing to show for it.

How is Vince McMahon still alive and in great shape for his age? He's known for hating sleep and I think he said he gets 5 hours or less. Def took steroids for years also. Grew up poor also, so the benefits from being rich (nutrition, doctors) weren't always there.

Although I am far away from 65, it's one of my greatest fears to wake up one day when I'm retired and think, the fukk did I do for the last 40 or so years? Slavin away for what?:patrice: some bytchass pension and beat up crib?:camby: Sometimes I think an honest living just isn't enough. Breaking through the poverty/average line is hard as shyt though, such is the setup of current society.

Even worse is that jobs are now disappearing thanks to automation. Even the skilled hard sciences jobs are getting easier and easier thanks to the tools improving. A job may be a thing of the past in another 20 years or so.
