That has always been a myth. With the economy in the shyt hole....most people are working 2 jobs, eating poorly, not exercising and not resting on vacations. Debt creates stress where people can't sleep.

Again...My BLACK grandparents who were kids during the depression, and grew up during Jim crow while raising 12 kids, went to sleep shortly after sunset, and awoke at dawn.... being in debt ain't got shyt on growing up as a Negro from 1916 to 1970.

If they can do it, a childless nikka who went in debt due to coppin jordans and trickin on bytches at the olive garden ain't got no excuses

There's a science behind everything. 8 hours of your day should be spent doing your house-holding responsibilities/recreational activities., 8 hours of your day should be spent with your respective profession/job, and the last 8 hours should be spent sleeping. That's 24 hours. The ideal way to live.

But you know damn well that employers don't want to hear that. Or the party hard people that refuse to give up bullshyt time. I make sure I get 6 hours per night and make sure that I drink mad water.

That shyt will only get worse as the cost of living goes through the roof.

If this chart is actually factual, I'm screwed. :heh: I'm guilty of pulling all nighters before exams or browsing the web until 2 or 3 am knowing fully well I have to be up at at the crack of dawn. On average, I normally get maybe 5 hours a night, and I'm so used to functioning off of a handful of hours of rest that I never thought about any potential implications it may have down the line.

I respect what your grandparents did but it was a different time my friend. Plus Hypertension arose from the Slavery and Jim Crow days.

I feel you, that's what it's ideal, but not necessarily feasible in this day and time. We got it all twisted.

just understand 2 things
-don't keep a sleep debt (pay it later in the day with a serious nap)
-you are not at your best when you are carrying a sleep debt and you can do "irreparable" damage to your body if you repeatedly don't pay or wait too long to pay your sleep debt

Yeah, and the fact is, these old ass employers want to do that long hours shyt and young people are mad distracted with technology and all. And like someone said, too much sleep deprivation will kill you.

With the adult working lifestyle, to maintain a semblance of an actual life, you're gonna have to cut into sleeping hours. Be it chillin with friends, an activity you like, the 9-5 standard working time limits us from doing what we want. Alot of workplaces should look into implementing this:
