now that the deed is done i have a question for yall

i called up ibuypower about the powersupply and there is a good chance i might get that c00nix shyt 700W PSU :to:

how detrimental is this? Im not completely opposed to just swapping out for a new one but remember the most graphically intensive shyt i will do is Diablo 3 and occasional HD porn :ehh:

You pushed everyones suggestions to the side and went with something that had a PSU brand named c00nix. :snoop:

First of all you'd be lucky if that shyt was really even 500W's. Second, know if that piece of shyt goes down it can take your motherboard and CPU with it. Good luck friend.

The iMac spoiled me, I just can't go back to 1920x1080 anymore :to:

agree with that statement. i'm personally not a fan of the cheaper 130 dollar acer/asus 1080p monitors. the picture quality is decent enough but the strain on your eye after a few hours is too much, imo. I don't game much but even regular work is tiring.

the monitor if you wanna go above 1920x1080 is one of the more expensive things to upgrade though. I had the previous apple cinema display @ 1920x1200 was pretty nice, but the glare was a little much. they go for about $600 now used on craigslist or microcenter and its not really worth it. the 1900x1200 on my 17" mbp is crisp though

the thunderbolt display is pretty awesome...and it uses the thunderbolt port. which is great for native mac users, no so much for anyone else (incl hackintosh users). i'm not sure if there are any macs beside the mac pros that currently have the graphics cards to max out details at 2560x1440 res... so $849 refub probably not worth it.

the dell 27 (can be had for $700 with patience) and 30 (1000$) are what my school primarily uses in their graphics/printing centers and they are really really nice. i prefer them over the apple displays. i would like to cop one of them one day.

but yea, everyone should try to upgrade their monitors once they have the chance. i'm studying for my boards and I use 2xU2311h (i got them refub for 133 each). I could probably sit and study for hours multitasking with no problems on my eyes. would recommend if anyone was going for eyefinity or something

Are power supplies pc case specific? Back to the og question with what I'm doin with the CPU warrant upgrading?

I ain't read anything in here besides this one post, but what is your current power supply?

Fred.

this is a whole new CPU i just bought recently here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227413

while everything else is nice, the power supply isnt 80 bronze certified

and ive heard bad news from the brand(c00nix :to:) theres no guarantee that it is in fact c00nix, but after speaking to customer service they use these standard entry level ones for all of the premades listed on newegg

A bad power supply can explode and fry your whole desk if you are not careful

my old computer sits on carpet, best to put it on top of the desk from now on?

or can i get away with just propping it up off the carpet

this is all hypotheticals, i highly doubt my shyt gonna explode or break considering i dont overclock or use anything that intense on the computer :manny:
this is said power supply(expected power supply)

Is the power supply mounted on top or bottom?

either way, don't do it if it's on a carpet...you should know better than THIS

Also, check your power supply on newegg and read the reviews.

top of your desk, better air flow. Unless you got an actual computer desk that allows it to sit on the side of your desk, but still up off the ground. Never ever on the carpet though.

unless you are doing water cooling you could easily of built one yourself, its honestly and truthfully not as complicated as it may seem, and people here was willing to help..

at the same time, you could of linked a couple pre built computers that you were looking at and we coulda told you yes or no. Also you coulda bought that ibuypower computer from..... ibuypower.com instead of a reseller, maybe saved some more money and also customized it a little more and we could of helped you with that

but nah instead you just pulled the trigger and bought the first thing you came across :skip:

its ok at least you buying it for a good cause :win:

i linked like 6 computers and only two people really commented on it(2guns ,joelb)

i did rebuild the same CPU on ibuypower and it was more expensive(newegg had a $100 off promotion)

thanks for the help, yall be playing pc games and dabbling with shyt for years. I know from experience with a friend of mine who was a recent WoW addict PC building is ass as I saw how he was handling it between all the crazy drivers and making sure everything fits together properly. You either slack on something and ur shyt is ass or you overspend altogether, now originally my hope was that someone woulda gave me just a lead on what shyt to go with which i took into consideration when i did buy(thank you Walt/Malta)

im an avid reader so most of my books are stacked up on my desk so im gonna see if i can find something that can prop the PC in the air off the carpet, im guessing as long as theirs air between the carpet and pc(~2-3" or so) it shouldnt be a big deal, stop me now if im wrong on that

my PC is about 5-7 inches off the ground right now, and that is fine. My next computer desk though, I will be having it sit on top of the desk.

all I was saying is, I saw this thread, posted in it on the first page, went to sleep, went to work, and by the time I got home from work you had bought a computer

you are still going to have to update drivers and shyt just like anyone else, you know that right ?
