are you saying the N router i just copped isnt worth it and i should return?

ill look up this tomato-ware

Most wireless connections can handle the throughput of today's internet still. I'd suggest N just for future preparing purposes.

Also Tomato (one of the variants) does support some N routers. It's a really slick firmware. If your current one supports it I'd recommend it.

one last question

Battery Backup/Surge protector, i copped this right here
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/CyberPo...bolsp-app03-14?id=1218196191482&skuId=9926082

worth it or not worth it? also i copped a linksys wireless N router, my computer is wired through my router currently and the new one will be too, does this make any kind of difference? ive been playing my PS3 wirelessly with a g router for 4-5 years, will an N router improve on the speed? link to router:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Cisco+L...itch/2225047.p?id=1218315006708&skuId=2225047

i havent opened anything so i will return if neither are necessary

Why battery back-up? You lose power a lot? Thats good if you do important stuff so you can save if you lose power but its going to do much for gaming

The N router will make a difference with wireless N stuff. But PS3 is not N, and it won't change any wired connections.

what about the battery backup/surge protector?

only reason i ended up getting it is fear that the c00nix 700W PSU(standard entry level)wont hold up over time

my friend told me i was a dumbass and to return it, but my logic is that this thing should lessen the stress on it. I have storms regularly in my area and my AC does turn on and off frequently

we have a ton of storms, i do alot of work via Excel/Matlab for engineering

this is more so for overall safety of my computer and MAYBE making up for my cheap PSU that came with the PC(removing any original piece voids the warranty)

Ok well back on topic, if you REALLY need your stuff up all the time a battery backup would be ideal. For most home scenarios you don't really need a battery backup. Just have a good surge protector (shouldn't skip on that) and should the power cut you should be alright once it comes back on.

just to show yall that building it really isn't as cheap as yall front, look here
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/82Vf

the only thing different is the power supply, so theoretically i would have saved a ~$100-$150 at best :manny:
