Xbox fans were laughing a week ago that sony gamers had to make a Microsoft account for sea of thieves, but now this practice is deeply concerning.

It's the samething as always...Sony Stan's trying to make it seem bigger than what it is.
The way people start is the way they expect things to continue, getting rid of the requirement only to randomly add it back simply stirred the beehive.
It's not even a big deal just annoying, but the PC group is a different bunch and just like @Gizmo_Duck feels like the Xbox players are piggybacking on the topic is exactly what happens when any little Xbox differences happen between PC/steam/console and Sony Stan's lean into whatever it is.
Seems stupid, because it is. You can tell Sony still isn't super familiar with maneuvering the PC space. It's a rookie mistake to make a requirement like this without giving the PC crowd multiple heads up.
