The Hassan Whiteside Revenge Tour has been going around the country for about a year and a half and shows no sign of taking a break.
Whiteside up against his hometown Hornets in the first round of the playoffs and hasn’t let go of the fact that they wouldn’t give him a tryout when he was training at a church and a local YMCA in Charlotte a few years back.
Here’s what he had to say after hitting the Hornets with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots in the Heat’s win on Sunday:
Did you ever get a tryout with the Hornets?
Whiteside: “We tried several times. They didn’t want me. There’s nothing I can say about that. They said no several times, and we moved on to another team.”
Do you still get satisfaction out of getting revenge against teams that bypassed you?
Whiteside: “I just get satisfaction of us winning. I come out here and play the best I can and showcase that I can play basketball in this league.”
