Excuse me, but it's very simple: Those women were ignored/snubbed by the scientific community? Why? Because the scientific community was run by men. Why was the scientific community run by men? Because men's contribution to the scientific community was greater, both in number and in scope.
Look, I don't deny that women's contributions going ignored is fukked up. But look at it this way: why aren't the roles reversed? Why were men in the position to reject women's contributions and not the other way around? Do you see where I'm going with this?
In many countries, women aren't allowed to attend school (even in 2013!) For the longest, this was the case in the greater world. You don't really just stumble upon these things...it takes research, experimentation, countless hours of studying...men had a better opportunity to learn/be taught whereas women did not. Therefore, of course, men's contributions are greater.
According to these responses, I am sensing that the reasoning is: "why are white men most powerful in the first place? because they're most capable" over women, other races, etc. That since they have reached this level of authority, "there must be a reason why and why they've been able to maintain it"So since white men hold and dominate in most of those male dominated industies your talking about ... Do you feel they are naturally more capable then us po old black people lol ? Nothing to do with exclusion ?
Again, this is fukked up, but it's further indication of something: men were in the position to prohibit those things because men first 'invented' institutions of learning. In many countries, women aren't allowed to attend school (even in 2013!) What I'm basically saying is this: the status quo is the status quo for a reason.
Status quo is status quo because the powers that be are interested in keeping their power.Again, this is fukked up, but it's further indication of something: men were in the position to prohibit those things because men first 'invented' institutions of learning.

That's a blunt way to put it, but yes, that's the gist of it. I'm not saying it's pretty, or even morally 'correct'. It just is.According to these responses, I am sensing that the reasoning is: "why are white men most powerful in the first place? because they're most capable" over women, other races, etc. That since they have reached this level of authority, there "must be a reason why and why they've been able to maintain it"

Not because of any inherent evolutionary advantage.
Financially mainly...women werent allowed to work...they were also saddled with children. But if you want to go to the route its basically comes down to physical strength. Thats not a factor in this world any more though.
I still don't think it's because women are less capable though...it's just something that has become a social norm. That's a blunt way to put it, but yes, that's the gist of it. I'm not saying it's pretty, or even morally 'correct'. It just is.
