This is precisely the issue I am trying to get some feedback on as well. What objective metrics and criterias do people use to gauge a player effectiveness? What determines when a player is regressing in comparison to previous play. I used lebron as an example because he is another all time great player like curry who is aging and who the vast majority of commentary on this forum has been In agreement that he is "washed" and has regressed to the point that he isn't a good player anymore. I pointed out that lebron has better statistics than curry in points, rebound and assists , has a stronger field goal percentage and he has a higher defensive rating as well this season. So does the same criteria fit curry in terms of regression? And if not what's the reasoning behind that as well.
What are the objective and non biased way we judge players and regression?

Why use field goal percentage? His TS% and EFG% are both middle of the pack for his career. His OBPM is middle of the pack for his career and he’s top 10 in EPM.

There is a similar thread on here about lebron being washed and having regressed and he has better stats than curry in points, assists, rebounds and a better field goal percentage and defensive rating as well and he is three years older than curry. I just want to understand the reference points and objective metrics we use to guage is a player is regressing in comparison to their previous play. I still think curry is a good player in the league just want to get folks views

Yes, and its been noticeable for a few years now, before the current knee issues. Chef is protected and held to a different regard though, especially on this site. While my answer is yes of the few games I’ve seen, and the stats. What his ranking is in fg% is worthless since he has games where he only shoots 3s. His eFG is a better metric and both it and fg% are in the neighborhood of where it’s been with some smaller variation of course
