Lyrically, I wouldn't be mad at anybody saying yes, but the severity and the outcome of Hit 'Em Up, makes it untouchable to me. Southside Crips and MOB Piru already had animosity, but when Pac got killed, MOB knew who was involved and Compton turned up another notch more than it already was. If social media was a thing back then, we would have gotten daily updates of who got killed like we do today.

No song comes close to shocking me when I heard it for the 1st time like Hit 'Em Up, not only because Pac went all in on Bad Boy, but just having LA gang politics on both sides of the beef, I knew this shyt wasn't gonna end well. Don't get me wrong, that song didn't necessarily get Pac killed. Stomping out Orlando was what did that, but those are the dudes Bad Boy tapped in with out West.

Ether is probably #2 on my list, but I knew that Nas & Jay would eventually peace it up

What rapper has performed the Super Bowl before Jay swooped in? shyt Hit Em Up dropped the year of the 3rd halftime show EVER. And let’s get it straight. None of them other diss COULD be performed at the Super Bowl. That’s how lethal and graphic they were. Yall need to stop with this Super Bowl shyt. That’s all due to circumstance and it’s not fair to past rappers. If Jay wasn’t involved with Super Bowl ain’t no rapper performing for that shyt outside or Eminem maybe.

This is dumb logic. Maybe some of us aren't prisoners of the moment. A lot of you love jumping the shark and wanting everything to be GOAT level just because. You're comparing a diss song that's been out less than a year to those that are at least over 2 decades old, which speaks to how ridiculous of a comparison it is. Let it breathe.
“Prisoners of the moment.”

nikka is that cause it's catchy or cause it's a diss track? Come the fukk on man. None of y'all would say Drake had the GOAT diss track with Back To Back regardless of how big it got.

Like its been said, NLU probably is the smartest diss track ever released.

To this day, I don't think we'll ever see a diss record greater than Not Like Us...smartly writen, smartly performed, just a flawless diss record covering all angles.

How does this discount what I posted? You are proving my point. In this very moment, it is still a big song. We don't know if this song will have the staying power that the other disses have had 10, 20, 30 years from now. Stan and ether are a part of the lexicon. Other artists have sampled and interpolated "Ether" into their own diss songs. "Hit Em Up" is another one that has been sampled and interpolated into tmother diss tracks.

If your judging by amount of artistic references I'm sure NLU would surpass any other diss simply cause it's a bigger hit.

Theres only a discussion if we are talking about music wise, not impact. Like lyrics/delivery/production. There was probably more passion in Hit Em Up, Ether as well. But in terms of song impact? Obviously NLU surpassed everythibf
