Y'all got those songs too high because they're old. Not Like Us BEEN surpassed Ether

And if we're taking this all the way Meet The Grahams is over those songs too. Not Like Us gets all the attention but Drake ain't been the same since Meet The Grahams
Definitely. Only a hater would say other wise. There's no angle you can find to attack these songs, except trying to make it seem like your subjective musical taste has any kind of authority lol.

Shut the fukk up. "The streets" :russ:

It premiered online and took off immediately. Then it made it's way to "the streets

Took off immediately, despite it being released for free the first couple of days, with no label backing and no promotion.

But yeah, keep talking about that industry push, everyone saw the song take off immediately in the streets :russ:

As much as I like MTG ya'll going a little overboard and just getting swept up in the entire boogey man campaign.

If it's about 'impact' how tf did that have more impact that HEU or No Vasaline? More than Takeover? nikkas front on it now, but that how bomb was lit was an event.

I'm sick of these crack baby music nerd nikkas who have little to no context in regards to shyt they talk about full throatedly.

Ether spawned not one but TWO terms that became verbs in the Hip Hop lexicon

The Bridge is Over was the first diss song that affected someone’s career negatively and essentially put an entire projects on ice for a decade.

No Vaseline was one man going against not only a crew, but an evil white man who was pulling the strings. Ice Cube was the first rap “boogeyman” who could stand up against not only a group of rappers, but the machine that was pushing them.

Hit Em Up was so scathingly disrespectful Biggie didn’t even bother to respond until 2pac was DEAD

Meet The Grahams was so shockingly potent that it euthanized Drake’s “red button” response within THIRTY MINUTES

The Story of Addidon exposed Drake as a whore impregnating, black face wearing, deadbeat with massive insecurity and daddy issues

The Takeover, though only half effective, still managed to make Prodigy a laughing stock, stripping him of his gangsta, and he was never quite the same

Not Like Us thoroughly and irrevocably stomped Drake into the ground. The most commercially successfully diss track of all time. It was so widespread that Drake had to FLEE THE COUNTRY to escape it. Winner of FIVE Grammys, performed live at the muthafukking SUPER BOWL!

These in my opinion are the best diss songs of all time. As far as ranking which ones are the “best” i think it really comes down to which one was the most effective at dismantling their opponent so there’s no question as to whose the winner. Hit Em Up is memorable and effective. Almost 30 years later lines are still quotable. The only thing that “hurts” Hit Em Up is that the Outlawz are damn near unlistenable. They suck. You HAVE to cut the song off after Pac (who blessedly goes first)

Ether has been, for twenty years, considered the pinnacle of dissing. The beat, the lyrical takedown, the performance, the timing of the drop on Jay’s birthday, it was all surgical and strategically perfectly executed. Nas made sure that the story of Jay-Z, with all of its accolades and successes, cannot be told without mentioning his Ether as perhaps his singular Loss.

Not Like Us similarly was perfectly written, performed, and timed. Its also a great SONG on its own right. It resurrected Mustard’s career. It put an entire coast at the forefront of the genre. It will go down in history as the defining song of an entire year. Drake will NEVER live the song down. Similar to Ether, the story of Drake cannot be told without Not Like Us being mentioned as a stain on not just his career, but his LIFE.

Going by effectiveness its reallllllly hard to argue against Not Like Us for number 1.

It ain't hate or an attack.

NLU is indeed the most impactful, that does not make it the best nessecerily, especially on the strenght of a faggy ass statement like "music critic proof", that is such a fukking moist ass thing to say.

MTG on the other hand, as crazy of a turn around as it was, is not clearing a sizable amount of diss records for the impact or importance, nor is it far and away some kind of otherworldy submission, you nikkas are smelling your own farts.

Not like us is definitely the most corporate and cac accessible diss track of all time. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing is up to your interpretation.

I couldn't imagine Pac being allowed to perform Hit em up at the superbowl in the 90's and corporate america piling on top. Why are they so comfortable with kendrick? That's always been the strange thing for me. I remember when they used to call rappers sell outs for even just having corporate endorsement deals.

I didn't say industry push. You fake Kendrick stans are so insecure.

I said the song released online and took off immediately. Remember all the internet was ablaze in real time. It was an organic hit.

So my point stands it hit the internet first then made it's way to the real world.

Here is this weird paradox where mfers like yourself act like “the streets” don’t use phones so they don’t have access to the internet or social media or indulge in the same bullshyt that the “lames” do.

It premiered online which is accessed by EVERYONE.

This site is funny as fukk :laff:

But nikka, the internet is real life now :francis:
They swear the internet is still on AOL or some shyt.

Tough to say surpassed because it’s a different climate now with how we consume music but it’s easily a HOF diss record. That much is undeniable
