the urm boost can be huge. if you're a good test taker, take advantage of that while you can.

im mainly going off my neighbor who works for deloitte

they made him a manager like 6 months ago so hes straight now

but he worked as an accountant for 4-5 years and he never made it out of the 50s. thats good money in houston but he worked a LOT. there were stretches where hed work from 8 am-10 pm. i dont think he was ever working 40 hour weeks, it was usually 45-50 during light times, 60-70 when it was hectic. thats a lot of work for the money.

he said its an investment. they get over on you for the first 5 years, but they hook you up as a manager. if you ever make partner :wow:

I don't doubt it, I work for Deloitte also. its all about your service line and your clients need. I have friends that work in consulting they might work 20hrs one week and 100hrs the next. In the summer I go to work at 8:30 leave at 5 and take an hour and a half lunch break. I guess that's more than 40hrs. I think your neighbor was being modest about his pay, I have friends who work in that office and he should've been in the 60s as a 1st or 2nd yr senior.

like you said though once you make manager the paper starts coming. Partner... :wow: rumor is my partner makes 4mil a year :lawd:

he said the money is great when youre a partner but you also have a big financial risk if something goes wrong

he said the more money you make over there the less work you do.

taking 2 years off to go business school is a gamble....

if looking to go into a new field, might be worth the risk

if planning to saying in same field, then try a program online or program which allows ya to go to school and work at the same time.

depends on the big 4

a strong senior / manager can make six digits

also depends on the market/city/practice...

to make partner gotta be with the firm for a while...

partners make from 500K to 10 mill...depending on the client/practice line/partner share/etc...

also gotta know how to sell to make partner...

also depending on acctng practices certain service lines are decimated...if a bunch of channel 1 work then business can remain...and no downsizing
