I'm assuning you're on heart meds OP?

It goes without saying to take your meds unfailingly. Other than that, restrict your diet, exercise regularly and avoid stressors.

Also look into getting an ICD implant. It can very well save your life.
I'm saying this from personal experience with a relative.

OP, I don’t have CHF but deal with patients that come in with CHF complaint all the time. Are you having any respiratory issues? Any swelling to your legs at all? Watch your sodium intake, also watch how much fluids you’re consuming throughout the day, if you’re able to, keep track of how much urine you’re putting out and how much fluid you’re taking in. Don’t go thirsty but don’t drink for no reason, keep intake at around 1.5 liters per day. You don’t want to overload your lungs because that can cause other issues (respiratory). Doctors may want to put you on a diuretic (lasix, bumex, torsimide) to get rid of fluid overload in your body.

As others mentioned, watch your BP, exercise what you can tolerate but don’t push yourself more than you’re ready to at the moment. Listen to your body breh.

I hope you improve soon. EF of 14% is insane, ideally you want to be somewhere around 60-65%

same with somebody from my neighborhood back in 2020..year younger than me...died of heart failure...left 3 kids

at his funeral his coworker brought me to tears when she described in her speech how he was going through work during the later stages of it

I had a heart attack and it damaged my heart to the point it began to fail. I was at a 14% EF after emergency surgery.

I was border line HBP and not obese at all.
Damn sorry to hear. My uncle is going through similar. The medicine he’s on really improves his heart and helps his symptoms.

Had a friend die from it. All I can say man is watch your stress levels in all situations. As a man you might feel like you can handle it but whether it be family, friends, finance, or females if you don’t need it don’t let it
Agreed. My stress/anxiety is taking a toll on me right now. Might have to get some pills for it.

It's one of my bigger fears about aging. I hear it's genetic though. It's lame how some people can eat whatever and be lazy and be fine until their 70s, whereas; others can be great eaters and active but still be knocked out by cardiac arrest, arythmia, and other heart failures in their 50s and 40s .

I was reading about skinny, healthy grover Washington dying from this sht in the 90s and it low key made me angry. From what I hear, your youth masks the issues, but they were always present even before symptoms and failed tests.

Stay strong @Born2BKing . I have a grandfather who got hit in his mid 50s, and they put him on a 12 pill daily regimine that forstalled the progression and he is still going strong today. And he kept a mediocre diet and minimal exercise til this day. Crazy as it sounds, I truly think it's the science that will save us. Just get your lipitor and other drugs, and you'll be fine. You can't eat and exercise your way out of structural issues with your heart. Don't dodge those meds
Agree with this whole post.

I have a fat lazy friend that never exercises and eats like shyt. He has PERFECT blood work.

I actually exercise and try my best to eat healthy but diabetes runs on my dads side (mom, dad and uncles all have/had it and weren’t even fat) so I’m trying push that off as long as possible. HBP on my mom’s side too.

Life ain’t fair :noah:

I've been diagnosed with congestive heart failure when I was obese. I couldn't walk upstairs with feeling like my heart was going to burst out my chest.

I've been on oxygen and all that. I would put my oxygen mask on and ride a recumbent come until I started walking then eventually running.

I would sprint from a light pole until the next then walk. I have one ventricle that doesn't pump right. I'm no longer on any heart medication. I take my cardio serious. I've built my heart strength up.
Another way to strengthen it up is setting an incline on the treadmill high and walking.
Good to hear.

No heart issues but I always do cardio as well. I try my best to stay active and fit. I slacked off this winter but I’m trying to get back on track. The treadmill is so boring, man.

Are you better now?
