Well in teenagers (developing mind) tha study says tha effects are permanent....
Makes sense. A lot of things you do particularly during puberty when your body is basically setting things in place physically for your life can be adversely affected by various things. I would be surprised if smoking and drinking hardwire changes in during that time.

The team of scientists compared the size, shape, and density of the nucleus accumbens and the amygdala — a brain region that plays a central role in emotion — in 20 marijuana users and 20 non-users.

a 40 sample study not confined to the lab? anybody smoking 4 times a week is not a recreational user and may be also doing plenty of alcohol with their hits. comparing that group with a sober group is azz imo.

I think you misread it. The light users (1x/ week) also had MRI changes when compared to the control group.

There was also a dose dependent effect --> Users with higher intake had more MRI changes

i skimmed it. the liquor industry usually finances these type of studies with a vested interest in forming public opinion for or against legislation. study didn't mention any lab notes or the quality and source of the cannabis or the potency of the tetrahydrocannabinol levels.

1) Good reading, you're right about the funding, which could have biased the findings:

This work was supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse(Grants 14118, 026002, 026104, and 027804to H.C.B. and Grant 034093 to J.M.G.), the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center (Grants DABK39-03-0098 and DABK39-03-C-0098), and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health (Grant 052368 to A.J.B.). H.C.B. was also supported by the Warren Wright Adolescent Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University, Chicago.J.

2) You're right. They just had to make sure every MJ user was using from the same batch, but they didn't.

Repped for good scientific analysis

Am I missing something, because I didn't read where there was a problem. All they stated was this, "Shockingly, every single person in the marijuana group, including those who only smoked once a week, had noticeable abnormalities, with the nucleus accumbens and the amygdala showing changes in density, volume and shape. Those who smoked more had more significant variations."

How is this a bad thing?

Transcendental meditation was shown to effect the same areas, yet no one says these are abnormalities, they praise these changes. They are using the word "abnormality" to play trickery on your mind, but all that means is the smokers brains were different from controls, but that doesn't mean their brains are messed up. It's actually good to be able to feel more pleasure in things, and to not be fearful all the time. The areas they named deal with those emotions. These people are foul, and only do stuff like this to people who can't think for themselves.

If you notice the whole article just kept going on, and on, about nothing, and devoted one little piece to the actual study. In fact they didn't find anything negative, so they had to twist the words somehow, because if n.I.d.a funded the study, its a waste of money if it actually goes against what their agenda is, so they had to use their little soldiers(the media) to try to play with people's minds. These people are clowns.

more fear mongering pseudoscience bullshyt. They didn't control for other drug use, they didn't do ANY cognitive tests to see if there were any differences, insanely small sample sizes, clickbait nonsense.
Cognitive test wuz when they said tha IQs were lowered in teens, an IQ test would be considered cognitive

How is a Harvard study pseudoscience, Wuts pseudoscience is you crack heads arguments against tha study

And I guess you missed tha part where it lowered IQ scores
