lol

Harden's defense is probably worse than Martin's. I don't think I've seen a player with Harden's physical makeup (or close to it) be this bad defensively.

Harden got benched tonight because he refused to play defense you should have seen it man. Nuggets made him look like a slow and old @ss fluck :stylin:

If he aint cheesin on the free throw line he's average as hell :pachaha:

Oh I know I watched the game, I've been watching the Rockets the entire season. If he ain't getting calls, he basically has no effect on the game.

You still wanna profess he's got a mid-range game?

You still wanna profess he's effective when he doesn't get calls?

You still wanna profess he still doesn't have a 'basic game'?

You claim to watch a lot of Rockets games but I bet all you do is read the stats after games. Most of his mid range shots are bailout shots at the end of the clock, trying (unsuccessfully) to draw fouls, or him taking bad jumpers because he's been feeling himself the past few times down the court. Is he supposed to ignore a lane to the basket to take a pull up jumper to prove something to your ass? With all of that said, yes a 23 year old player can improve on that facet of his game. The only person that can't give props to a 23 year old star that is arguably the most improved player in the league is you.

He had a bad game so what? You're obsessed with his "phantom calls". If he flops so much where are the fines? I'm not sure he's even been warned (I know Asik has). I've been to almost half of the Rockets home games this year and I'd have no problem agreeing with you (like Scola for example) if you were right but hearing all of the loud slaps in person whenever he drives I'm going to just say you're fos on this one.

Once again you only make yourself look like bad with this basic game nonsense. Go ahead and tell us "all he does is ___" while glossing over the fact that he's dominant when playing to his strengths.

The irony in all of this is that our opinions of him as a player aren't far off from each other. Where do you have him ranked overall and at his position? I'm not even as high on him as others here. You have entrenched yourself in this position to the point where you can't even acknowledge that he's a beast. It's like you let your emotions ruin your own arguments. We've been back and forth on this all season and it's almost over. Can you finally admit that dude is nice?

How do you come to this conclusion? Can I look at the stats and determine if he gets phantom fouls called? Can I look at the stats and determine he dominants the ball too much (without moving the ball)?

I've watched 85+% of Rockets games this season and I've watched around the same amount of games, when he was in OKC.

Most of his mid range shots are bailout shots at the end of the clock, trying (unsuccessfully) to draw fouls, or him taking bad jumpers because he's been feeling himself the past few times down the court.

:what:

This proves my point (and no he doesn't have heat checks from mid-range, because he never gets hot from there). He doesn't have a mid-range game, it's a last resort for him. There's basically no difference to his game now than there was when he was a Sun Devil. That doesn't mean I'm saying he should've significantly improved his game since then (or I was expecting an improvement), it's that I'm saying his game is inaccurately viewed - right now. Folk have got him on a pedestal, when his game doesn't reflect that.

You can't sit there and tell me he has a mid-range game when he's currently shooting 32.2% from outside the rim to the 3pt line. To put that number into perspective: Rubio is shooting 30.9% from outside the rim to the 3pt line. There's a 1.3% difference in their shooting%s, and I bet you wouldn't even entertain the idea that Rubio has a mid-range jumper - am I right?

Harden has actually been fluctuating between the high 20s and low 30s all season.

Is he supposed to ignore a lane to the basket to take a pull up jumper to prove something to your ass? With all of that said, yes a 23 year old player can improve on that facet of his game. The only person that can't give props to a 23 year old star that is arguably the most improved player in the league is you.

No, but that's not the point here. He's overdependent on only TWO areas of the game: driving and drawing contact and shooting top of the arc threes. Nothing else. He basically has no awareness on where to be off the ball. The most improved player in the league? You've got to be kidding me? He's no where near the most improved player in the game. What does he do differently or better this season compared to last season? Absolutely nothing. Points and assists are up because he gets more touches and plays more minutes. His man-to-man defense has gotten worse (if that were possible) and everything else has relatively stayed the same. His shooting percentage has gone down and his turnovers have risen (again a reflection on his usage rate).

In saying all that - he probably will get the most improved player of the year award (because it fits the league's narrative they're trying to push).

To my knowledge he hasn't been warned or fined.

Again, that would ruin the league's attempt at pushing him as a star. Where are all the fines for Chris Paul's flops (he's been warned once)? I can tell you right now, there isn't one other player in the league I've seen this season, that has left defenders in more disbelief after a foul has been called. Not Kobe, not Wade and not Durant. The over-accentuation of cocking back the head and drastic body movement on any form of contact (as minuscule as it may be) is what his game's predicated on. He doesn't get those calls, he's basically ineffective. It's almost like the sole purpose of him driving is to get a call and not to get a basket.

I've seen teams this season afraid to go near him after he gets a roll on of calls and he has a free passage to the rim. I don't doubt he doesn't get fouled legitimately, but when I see players' initial responses and from what my eyes tell me, he does get A LOT of calls go his way.

Once again you only make yourself look like bad with this basic game nonsense. Go ahead and tell us "all he does is ___" while glossing over the fact that he's dominant when playing to his strengths.

It's a basic game. Shooting threes and relying on contact when driving is a basic game. What other qualities of a SG does he possess? No mid-range game, no cutting to the basket, no post game, no off-ball movement, no curling (which I know he's only partly responsible for). His game is basic and once again, I don't expect it to be developed - he's only 23. But the way folk view his game and where he's ranked as a player, like he's up there with Wade and Kobe + being a top 10 player. shyt ain't a true reflection of where he's at.

He's a very good top of the arc three point shooter and is GREAT at driving (not great at finishing) - that's all.

The ones in bold, I can't say Harden is better than due to being injured or not a direct-reflection of their games because they're playing injured (or recently coming back from injury). There are players on that list that are on the higher side of arguably being better than him (there are more players that are arguably better than him too - on the lower side, who I've left off).

I never once said or alluded to the notion that he isn't nice. My only gripe is where he's been ranked as a player. If folk didn't come out and say Thunder should've traded Westbrook and that he's better or he's up there with Kobe and Wade or that he's MVP material or he's elite after a few games or he's a top 10 player or anything of that nature, I wouldn't have posted half the shyt I did.

I know what you're gonna say, you know what I'm gonna say.

As for the list you posted I disagree on several but you pretty much confirmed my thought that your opinion of him isn't that far off from my opinion of him.

:scusthov: at Ibaka. Thunder done fukked up twice, giving up Jeff Green for Kendrick Perkins  and Harden for K-Mart, and the Thunder personally saying, Ibaka>Harden. I'm still amazed at how :trash: Ibaka's offense is and how his defense has gotten exposed.

Can u blame the Thunder? Durin' that time, a lotta teams were tryna mimick the Lakers and add size to counter Bynum & Gasol. Trading a tweener scrub for a guy averagin' 13 & 10 per 36 mins playin' w/ the Boston defense that bested the same team that Oklahoma City lost to in the 2010 playoffs, in '08, and nearly in '10. Hindsight's always 20/20
