I give props to Harbaugh....he's smart enough to see that Smith ain't got what it takes to win it all and will never be more than average. 99% of coaches wouldn't have the balls to pull this move off
i actually don't see anything wrong with this. it moves the chains and eats up clock.
but to alex. hopefully the 9ers cut him at the end of the year.
just goes to show you he never thought Alex Smith was any good in the first place
Who didn't see this coming? The offense is far more dynamic with kaep. Speaks to what harbs sees in practice as well
The offense was more dynamic for one game, don't get too far ahead of yourself. Against the Rams the offense didn't look that dynamic at all.

Already shilling against our starting QB? You can make a gazillion excuses for a 7 year veteran, including awful games he had this season, but you won't do the same for Kaep? Alex has NEVER had a game as good as the one Kaep had MNF against a defense of that caliber.
i been said that the writing was on the wall for this move, just didn't think it would happen this soon.
from the peyton chase, to the front office giving alex a 3 year deal with only 1 year guaranteed, to harbaugh getting kaepernick PT before the bears game, it was obvious that alex was quarterbacking on borrowed time. i still think that starting kaep right now is a high risk/high reward move but it's a move i'd be willing to make.
Well, well, well. It looks like weve got a little ESPN-on-SI crime.
In response to a report from Jim Trotter of SI.com that 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has been told that Colin Kaepernick will start Sunday at New Orleans regarding of Smiths health, ESPN producer Seth Markman has posted via Twitter that Smith has informed ESPNs Trent Dilfer that the veteran quarterback has been told only that Kaepernick will get the first-team practice reps this week.
Per Dilfer (via Markman), Smith says that he still has a chance to start based on how he and Kaepernick perform in practice.
Dilfer and Smith were teammates for two years in San Francisco, from 2006 through 2007.
So its possible a decision hasnt been made. And the situation already is taking on a life of its own, which wont make it any easier for coach Jim Harbaugh to make a decision (if a decision hasnt been made) and to get his team to support it without doubt or question or second-guessing.
