my point is that last year if harbs decided to bench alex for kaep, Id have more of a problem with it
you realize the 49ers in wins were never behind by more than a field goal this year?
both times we were behind by a possession we took Ls. in the third game we got a tie with kaep on the field.
our defense is also not as good as last year, even though statistically it looks great (again, mostly beating up on awful offensive teams ie az with skelton, chi with cutler, jets, etc.)
alex is a good qb for preserving and building on leads, hes not a good qb for coming back when defense is struggling. he showed that he could do it last year, but this year the league did a bit of gameplanning, and he can't. once TEs on wheel routes get locked down, he cant pass downfield.
it makes all sense in the world to try kaep right now and evaluate him, especially since it seems the locker room stands behind him. alex is due for 12 milly in april and if we cut him we dont take the hit. and the hit is huge for a team that already is nearing salary cap hell
