Nah the OT is like the old testament to Star Wars fandom. Everybody follows it.

The PT was the first great divide.

Some would say EWOKS were the first divide. People like Gary Kurtz, Irving Kershner etc. Then there was the Luke/Leia being sibling twist.

You won’t get much of an argument from me. One could argue that ROTJ sealed the deal for that franchise long before anyone knew what a jar jar was.

100%.

I always tell people, all the flaws the prequels had, especially Episode 1/2 were there in RotJ.

Sorry breh, but there's nothing about Maul that deserves a flick :hhh:

He's basically a character that was just made for fight scenes. Dude doesn't have nearly enough backstory or personality to carry a movie. Maul basically spent his whole life before Ep1 serving Sidious, so it's hard to imagine what a Maul movie would even be about. Running errands for Palpatine? Trying and failing to go after Obi-Wan? That's really about all he did.:russ:
Clone Wars series into Star Wars Rebel is why a Maul film won't happen :ufdup:Goat fukkery transpired after episode 1:birdman:

They got to let this old shyt go. I want a movie that gets away from the Skywalkers and any of their affiliates.
Rogue One was a step in the right direction honestly, should’ve followed it up with Knights of the Old Republic movie. Which tbh looks like one of the planned trilogies they’ve haven’t announced yet.

Rogue One was bullshyt and will be the most forgotton Star Wars movie of all time once they finally decide to branch outside of the nostalgia characters, and keep pumping more movies out. "How could we make a 'NEW' Star Wars movie? Something fresh?" "Let's do another Death Star origin movie!" "Brilliant!" And on top of that, there is not a single memorable character. the entire cast is cannon fodder and we knew that going in. All people will ever talk about is the tacked on Vader scene (the only reason the movie was made) and the droid might rank #5 on a "Top 10 Star Wars Droids" Buzzfeed list.

star wars as an expanded film franchise doesn't allow for the same versatility as something like marvel, this is what a lot of fans don't understand.

the characters are what made the original trilogy. nothing they create from here on out can/will ever measure up to that. so long as they keep making star wars movies all we can ever reasonably hope for are lesser remixed versions of characters and concepts that have already been established.

more importantly none of the disney movies will ever truly be born out of creativity and inspiration. at this stage disney has decided it needs X amount of star wars movies and is just churning them out on a fixed schedule. the new trilogy that was supposed to be given to rian johnson was greenlit before they even knew what it was going to be about, that tells you all you need to know.

I thought the new Trailer was Fire and captured the 80's perfectly. This joint looked like a retro 80's film with way better effects than then. This is why Ron Howard was a better choice even though I don't have a problem with Lord and Miller. He's from the same Era as Lucas and even did a movie with Lucas and Harrison Ford "American Graffiti" while also directing "Willow" for Lucasfilm. This movie feels much more like something Lucas would of made to me because Ron Howard has a long relationship with Lucas where as JJ and Rian grew up on Star Wars but didn't have the same relationship with George like Ron Howard does. Look nobody can replace Harrison, he's a Legend. But this is like a "Young Indiana Jones" series or River Phoenix in "The Last Crusade" playing a teenage Indy\. The Super Bowl trailer was "OK". I wasn't fully sold. This is the trailer that sold me. I think the Spin-Offs have a much better opportunity to expand the mythology. The Episodes are locked in with the Skywalker mythology but Regardless it seems they can't let the Skywalker ties go.

"Rogue One" still had Vader and Leia in it and Han is of course Leia Husband, Luke's Brother in Law and Anakin's Son in Law. So telling his backstory before he met the Skywalker's still kinda of ties to them. Again I liked the gritty look and showing the Star Wars Underworld. I wasn't sold on Aldren or Donald at first but seeing more scenes, I can feel they are younger Han and Lando. This movie isn't just a Han Solo movie to me. It's really a Han, Lando and Chewie prequel wrapped into one. I'm laughing at anyone thinking this is going flop. It's dropping Memorial Day Weekend. Star Wars has won the Box Office 3 straight years. I don't think this will win the year because of comp but it will do really well so don't underestimate it's potential. 1st Star Wars Summer Movie since "Revenge of the Sith" 13 years ago. Also this is basically a defacto "Star Wars X" as it's the 10th Live Action Film released in the franchise. With "The Last Jedi" being polarizing amongst some fans, this film being a isolated story helps.

Regular and finding himself school kid doesn’t work for Han Solo

Dude is supposed to be a badass...even when he’s young there should be hints

Rogue one is the only memorable star wars film Disney has made and it fixed a plot hole of the original trilogy.
