my favorite modern-day male r&b groups:

off the top of my head:

1. h-town
2. BBD
3. hi-five
4. new edition
5. jagged edge
6. jodeci
7. guy
8. mint condition
9. silk
10. blackstreet
honorable mention: boyz II men - they prolly would've been top 5 if they stayed with biv10.

wow. theres a lot of groups I liked that didn't make the cut.

yea i've got that imitation of life joint too, was pretty decent, obviously the sound was off as it hadn't been mastered properly but dino and them were still killin it

my favourite groups, top 5, would probably go:

h town
jodeci
jagged edge
dru hill
blackstreet (that "another level" album was the soundtrack to my whole '96)

honourable mention to new edition, they were dope. "can you stand the rain" is one of my favourite songs of all time

since y'all are creating fav group lists, i might as well jump in:

1. mint condition
2. tony toni tone
3. jodeci
4. new edition
the rest (6-10) are not in order: boyz ii men, silk, guy, blackstreet, dru hill)
honorable mention: after 7, h-town.

h-town made better albums than jodeci.

:whoa:

Slow down Junior, Htown was a good 2nd tier RnB group of their era. Jodeci are all timers with their names up in the rafters with New Edition, En Vogue, Jackson 5, etc etc. Htown owed alot of their success, look and sound to Jodeci

no. BBD started that "look". jodeci gets a lot of undeserved credit. and h-town owes none of their success to jodeci. lol. that's ridiculous.

I don't care about name value. I was talking catalogs.

as far as sound, you have somewhat of a point seeing that they rode the "part time lover" wave all thru the 2nd album. and "part time lover" was produced by devante.......but they were already big by then.

I always thought Jodeci was a combination of BBD, Guy and a lil Keith Sweat thrown in to create their overall sound and style.

leave it to some people and they'll say that jodeci created singing.

yea, i was just listing '90s male groups.

if we were to add female groups and groups from all eras, then my list would be different too.

:king:h-town & BBD would still be 1 & 2 tho.:king:
