regularly bench
pressing 200 pounds and above- swore i was beasting when i was adding plates every other week till i started training for the military and realized how much i sucked at push-ups, sit-ups, and cardio. Left bench pressing alone for a whole year and focused solely on cardio and core workouts, lost 65 pounds and knockout my Military PT with relative ease yearly.
Right now I’m training for a half marathon so it’s still cardio/core>>>weights but i do plan on adding occasional bench press back in my routine for the sake of toning. Nothing above 175 though. For my goals, i can maximize with that with stuff like countdowns and emphasizing depth over the number of reps.
