i honestly did not know that somalians had a 1000 year history of c00ning till today

im just :dwillhuh: at your boldness and thinking you are winning by admitting that your people joined with arabs to enslave black africans

:wow:
Africans all over the continent were enslaving rival tribes (still happens in some places) you smart dumb nikka, do I need to school you on that too? :heh:

and? what's your point? does that negate what i said or does it even negate my original point that the reason slavery happened is 1) africans participated in the slave trade and 2) the european were technologically ahead

but overall you seem to be missing the point that the reason you brought up ships was because we were discussing european slavery, but the boats you are talking about are slave boats, do you not see the irony?

and do africans brag and are proud of their participation in slavery? or is it just you and your fellow Somalians?

@Blackking

I have never read this book. Personally, I am in a different space and my opinions would first begin on the opposite scale. First off, I dont believe firearms, steel axes, iPods, smart tvs, etc advanced technology. My thinking is totally different. I feel we are on the lower end of technology and the earth and its civilizations resets itself (and history) periodically. I prefer a lower mortality rate over whatever so called technology we have that causes a higher rate.

I am not sure what the talk in here about superior technology being the reasoning for the slave trade. I will never subscribe to that theory. DIVIDE AND CONQUER method was the greatest tool in the slave trade. Africans helped sell Africans. Africa had too many people to take by guns. :pachaha: At that time all the Europeans in the world couldnt take Africa with guns alone. It was a more divisive strategy. I'll take telekinesis anyday over ELF waves.

Good look on the mention. I will read this book and research it...not because it will change my focus but because I am always down for scholarship. Again...conquest, colonialism, etc...even today happens in the mental first. The D&C method is always the key component and means to an end when speaking of domination. This is how Qaddafi met his end...but thats a story for another time. Physicality aint shyt without stragegy.

first off, somalians have nothing to do with west africa which is where European slavery started, what would somalians having ships have to do with europeans in west africa? so the point still stands and the only thing you have shown is that we really need to ask what is an african and whether somalians should be considered "african", cuz when i say the african slave trade im referring to the black people of africa that suffered through slavery

i already said the africans participated in the slave trade, that was my original point but it sounds like the somalians were on some other shyt the whole time and were fully down with the arab slave trade

the only thing i was wrong about is being conquered by arabs and apparently the only reason you werent conquered was because of special arrangements and religion

FYI everything im saying is broken down in this video, he goes into slavery in general and why black people allowed slavery to happen

and the main reason is african participation and europeans (and arabs) having better technology

but of course, there's always more. :manny: but i've always felt that those may be the main component. understanding nietzscheism, and its misuse might be the frosting to understanding the cac/euro mind.

while i'm basically an existential-nihilist [:yeshrug: we all kinda are], this is a VERY underrated post :pachaha: :banderas: :whoo:

Breh, not to be rude but you got your history wrong. The only place where Islam was introduced through conquest in Africa was North Africa, and even then that area was taken from byzantine cacs. Afterwards the local Berber population voluntarily converted to Islam after witnessing the just administration carried out by the leadership.

As for East, Central and West Africa, Islam was introduced through trade. I don't know where you got the impression that there was some type of conquest or forced conversion (unlike Christianity). Furthermore you had Kings in West Africa converting to Islam which only encouraged the population to follow suit.

Don't believe what these hating cacs tell you, do you know that it was West and North African muslims who teamed up that conquered Spain? Islam reached the far east. Look at Indonesia, the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Was there a conquest that happened there? Nope, the honesty and good manners showed by Muslim traders did the trick.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXACTLY.

Hell, ya'll forget how big Africa is. shyt wasn't just permeating everywhere.

Thats why the north is islamic and the rest is basically christianized and everything within is still on that old-world tribal shyt :heh:

Don't be mad cos you got schooled, that's what happens when yo try to act smart on a subject you're clueless. Once again, show me where a Muslim conquest took place in Africa (bar NA). If you can't do that then leave the thread and don't ever talk about the subject :camby:

what are you talking about? :what:

Look at everything from morocco over to egypt...hell even parts of Sudan.

goddamn you're in denial.

tell me why what happened to the native americans couldn't have happened to the africans?

based on SHEER infrastructure, it was going to be a lose-lose for africans sooner or later because of how Europe was pretty much moving at the time.

Firearm isn't advanced tech? :mjpls: :usure:

Steel axes ain't advanced? :usure: I guess you prefer brittle iron tools with dull edges? :beli:

fukk outta here.

That divide and conquer shyt is a smoke-screen so you don't have to face the fact that africans just couldn't stand up to the bigger force. And I'm a black guy here.

Lets be real fam.

And this book isn't even ABOUT africa. Its about the whole world so I suggest you check it out since the africa notion of it is such a SMALL part about addressing humanity at large and how things came to more or less be this wway.

i think divide and conquer was definitely in the mix, but lets talk about HOW they divided and conquered, the number #1 way is through offering one tribe arms or allegiance or manufactured goods, divide and conquer is based on the fact that the europeans had something valuable, and that something was technology and manufactured good and advanced weapons which made them valuable allies

and the same thing with ghadafi, who i am glad is gone, but any politics around ghadafii was based on the fact that western nations had technology that enabled them to drop bombs on him anytime and anywhere they wanted

the notion that technology is secondary or minor is nutty, technology is one of the main forces that drive and decide conflicts

Read the book years ago and really enjoyed it but since it was so long ago, I won't do it justice trying to summarize it.

I haven't seen the videos but my guess is that they would provide the central ideas behind the Diamond's arguments but not actually provide detailed evidence.

You probably know this much already about the book but he basically argues that the reason why Europe and East Asia grew faster than the rest of the world was (1) because they switched from hunter-gatherer societies to agricultural societies earlier in their history and (2) because the geography of Europe-Asia allowed traders to travel East-West vs North-South. The reason this is important is because by maintaining relatively similar latitudes, they avoided the adverse weather effects, diseases that result when traveling North and South. Thus they traded more and more trade led to increased specialization and increased development and the eventual divergence.

Once again, I'm hardly doing it justice but this is how I recall the argument.
Like @knowmadd said it's tough to give a real good summary of a book that covers so much.

Growth and advancement took place because of location and opportunity. We suffer from this narrative that the English and Australian Aborigines are very different people because they advanced at different rates. Guns, Germs, and Steel says that location is more important than the people. Australia doesn't have the climate or livestock to domesticate. Eurasia does. The author makes it pretty clear that 'primitive' is a relative term. While we may see New Guineans as less advanced, most Americans wouldn't make it three days out in a jungle that their 12 year olds have no problem in. All the iPhones in the world don't make a difference if you don't have an understanding of how to survive your environment.

The beginnings of language part was especially impressive to me. Suppose I'd just never thought about it before.

Coming from a black perspective the book really kicks racist arguments in the ass. It's not that white folks are naturally more inclined to be more intelligent or more advanced, it's that the environments that their ancestors lived in gave rise to cultures that allowed them to survive in those environments and expand elsewhere, while other environments did not foster the same kind of growth.

Both of you pretty much covered what I was going to say.

@Blackking Read the book. I Highly recommend it. It is very informative.
