I like most of Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe movies but I don't think I am going to be checking this in the theaters. This movie from the trailers and the marketing don't appeal to me. Too be honest I hope the movie flops just to put Marvel Studios in check that they can't just put out movies with any character(s). I don't even remember people really clamoring for a movie about this comic book. The comic book characters that people really been wanting to see Marvel is slow rolling to get them made like Black Panther, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Moon Knight etc.

Casual fans make up MOST of the viewership and they don't know who those characters are. Marvel has brand recognition. A lot of people wasn't up on Iron Man when it first came out. Hulk was popular and the first one flopped. Marvel has done a great job introducing characters so I say let them do their thing. At the end of Avengers nobody knew who Thanos was, but by the time Avengers 3 drops casual fans will.

@ some of those picks. Nobody is waiting for a Luke Cage or Moon Knight movie in '14. I don't even think people are waiting for an Iron Fist movie like that (or a Black Panther movie outside of this board) but at least those would be interesting seeing on screen.And there's a simple reason Guardians Of The Galaxy got made, namely that Disney has huge faith in the secondary profit from toys/cartoons/etc. It doesn't matter if the movie under performs for Marvel standards if it at least reaches the audience Disney desires, namely the kids who'll want parents to buy every goddamn action figure, video game, food plate and bed sheets.

LOL I post at comic book movie forums and I do see them names pop up in threads or have their own threads. Yes you are definitely right why it got made and by the marketing it looks like it may reaches Disney's true goal.
People who post on comic book forums are the minority of people who see these movies. The average person has never even heard the names Luke Cage or Moon Knight.
