Nominal GDP >>> PPP which is outdated trash

I'm an economics major why are you doing this :snoop:

This doesn't even have anything to do with the substance of this discussion :snoop:

Oh, nominal GDP :lolbron: Is that the new concept that the ponzi scheme economist are using now that the "old system" has been fully exploited? :jawalrus:

Perhaps you'd like to take this up world renowned Harvard economist who says America could easily guarantee a minimum income? :ld:

You're all over the place man... make a statement or a claim and we'll have a discussion based on that. I'm not going to try and be clever with you because it seems that you are lacking in comedic flavor.

Here is your chance, make a claim and I will make a counter claim. If not, please go away.

"lacking in comedic flavor" you're a wordsmith :heh:

I've made several claims in this thread already. I can't help the inept.
You followed into this thread, not the other way around. But I understand, you don't want to defend your "I''m an economist BS" so throw out a little ad hominem :smugbiden:

They effeminately can tho, their GDP per capita is like 75k :heh:

only 9m people in the whole country too :ehh:

It's a great idea :salute:
I could see if it were something like free healthcare, free education, a public works program...

But this just seems like an opportunity for abuse, and not really a solution to any problem.

Why not create a public works program, where folks who can't find work are guaranteed $33K/yr jobs?

I think the goal here is to provide stability to work a meaningful job, not create "work" just to earn a meager salary. Switzerland is expensive so that minimum income will still need to be supplemented, correct? Northern Europeans aren't lazy and uneducated like we are.

Oh yeah, they have all those social programs you mentioned :smugbiden:

It's definately not something I would advocate for different economies but lets consider Switzerland for a second

1. The economy is very advanced with 71% of the work force being in the service sector

2. the work force that does manufacture is super specialized; not unskilled labour

3.33k a year is nothing in Switzerland really

4. The % of the population that would abuse this is almost certainly less than the percentage of the population that would benefit, just like any other govt program

Grown ass men/women working at say Swiss McDonalds may quit, but people who really need the extra income will start working there. The people who quit their jobs may pursue things they would have not pursued if they were bound by these obligations, and this may have a innovation and creativity boom effect on the economy.

Again this is all speculation, this is something totally unprecedented and I admire the Swiss for even thinking about it, maybe it's a brilliant idea or maybe it isn't, but it's definitely one worth trying.

Wouldn't this put the power in the people's hands instead of the other way around?

Think about here in the U.S. how many people work shytty jobs just to get by and live check to check. People are at the mercy of their employers, so they'll get paid less to do more work and there isn't a lot they can do to counteract it. In this scenario, nobody's gonna get paid half to do the work of two like in this country, since they'll just walk out and no one else would be waiting to fill their shoes. We'd all have the power to say, "I'm not doing that shyt unless I'm treated fairly and properly paid and no one else will either. Good luck doing that on your own."

Capitalism is modern feudalism.

You just said the exact thing I stated a post above, just a bit more wordy and articulate, yet I'm trying to flirt? :snoop:
