For health reasons how often is it ok to eat bbq and grilled meat?

@Rhakim

@Mr Mulsanne

Some major studies have suggested that it's never okay to eat charred or cured meat. As in charred animal fat is carcinogenic in any amount. That doesn't mean you'll get cancer just from having BBQ once, but every time you have it it increases your risk.

Did a pork butt this past Sunday. It was alot better than the first time I attempted it. Also did some Kalbi ribs. I wanted to put em on the smoker wit the pig but couldn't find anyone else who cooked em low and slow so I just put em on the reg grill. Fuego.

From what I understand, it's not the meat, it's the smoke. When the fat drips into the fire it creates carcinogenic compounds within the smoke and latches itself all over the meat.

I do mainly indirect cooking anyway where the fat drips into a pan other than directly over the fire so I think that greatly reduces the risk.

It's the burnt fat if I understand correctly - so even if you catch the fat drip, if there's burnt fat on the meat that has the same problem.

Smoking 2 birds in like 12 hrs.

fukking brine bag burst, in the sink luckily.

Had the brine all boiled and cooled down, put the turkey in a bag, fukking cheap ass bag burst. Brine all down the sink.

So I made a really cheap and quick brine. Apple cider, orange juice, half cup of salt. fukk it. That's just one turkey, the other one is fine. Good brine and all.

Ayone have a Green Egg? Been tempted to get one for a while, just have to convince myself to drop that much bread, and knowing I'll have to bring it in when not using it because I know nikkas will steal it.

Where do you live? Do you have a garage? Or a shed? Fenced in backyard? They're pretty heavy. But if they have time they'll be able to haul it out.
