Lesser of two evils? How? You knock the ball to the turf game over and walk the hell of the field. He tried catching the ball and it backfired

It's the lesser of two evils cause of TWO plays? TWO? Really?

Can you post two plays where someone went for the pick and gave up a TD?

It's an extremely low percentage play for the offense regardless of the strategy the defense employs.

:beli: cmon man. u sound rediculous bruh. are u really gonna sit up here and say that a pass break up and/or a simple tackle is better than an int or fumble recovery:mindblown: are u aware of how valuable a defensive takeaway/turnover is? are u aware on how strick the nfl officiating has been to restrict dbs from bein physical with recievers? u sound extremely clueless in discussing football. u act like on every play db's are getting burned for 90 yd td's. Have u evr played football? Most db"s arent big enough to wrap up and tackle? they fly to the ball carrier and stop him by any means neccesary.
Gat damn bruh! u have lost your mind:mindblown:

and if u wana discuss "soft covergages" and defensive schemes in the secondary. i can speak on that and run laps around u. :ooh:

Catching that ball with Tate on his back and arm was leaving it up to chance, as a DB he HAD to know the rules regarding a simultaneous catch and that it always goes to the offense. That isnt taking a chance on that play?

again..... why are you this SLOW?

they both have their negatives and positives......... catching the ball has LESS negatives than swatting the ball...

jennings deserves NONE of the blame for this, he did the correct thing, it was just unfortunate it didn't work out in his favor.

if you are forced to take ONE option (out of 2), where both could result in a bad outcome,,, you take the one that is less likely to result in a bad outcome.... and that is

catching the balllll

Less negatives? N***a we saw one of the negatives last night. Another negative he could drop it, it could bounce off his fingers, it could get tipped up into the air, etc. Im not sure where the f**k you getting your information from but majority of the teams in that situation teach you to knock the ball down.

Not sure what defensive coordinator or coach told you otherwise. But since Deion screams out "catch the ball" it's all fine and dandy

and we saw one of the negatives of swatting the ball in the titans game... your point? it still doesn't take away from the fact the catching the ball when you're in a position to... is the lesser of two evils. you swat the ball you ain't taking control of the situation, you leave outside factors to make the play for you, attempting to intercept it, when you're in position to, minimizes x-amount of those factors.

stop jumping to conclusions where i NEVER implied you to go that route...... the deion example is just one that works in my favor..... it ain't the end all be all

this is literally the FIRST time in nfl history a DB has caught an interception in the endzone and the other team received a touchdown. that right there shows that the chance of catching an interception ending up being worse than tipping a ball is lower.

that's not the point dumbass. attempt to catch the ball when you're in position to, is the lesser of two evils.

DBs are taught to knock the ball away

a hail mary situation in NO way is the same as any old pass break up

the odds of returning a INT from a hail mary for points is negligible so the benefit of the pick doesnt exist

LOL @ everyone thinking 2 times out of hundreds of years of football that goign for the pick when your a DEFENSIVE BACK WITH shyt HANDS in the first place is better than swatting

if they had great hands theyd be WRs

but i aint discussing the factors of returning a hail mary.. wtf? jennings wouldn't have tried to return it, he knew it was the last play, that statement is pointless..... im aruging you make the play that is the lesser of two evils., if you are in a definitive position to catch the ball, you make an attempt to catch it, jennings caught it, the benefit of picking that ball (in that situation) is not in the nature of returning it... the benefit is maximising your power on ending the play, you don't do that by swatting the ball.. you leave MORE outside/environmental factors to have a say, than you do by attempting to catch it when you're in the BEST possible position out of all the players on the field..

from my experience, dbs are taught ,,, if you are in a position where you can make a play, you make it.. jennings was in the best possible position to make that catch on the field, and thats what he did..

and that last statement is flat out ignorance, i played corner and receiver the majority of my teenage life; the ability to interpret the play/ player movement, (educated/experienced estimates of a play, instinct, working the patterning of what the receiver tends to do, idiosyncrasies, etc etc), that was harder and more challenging than playing receiver.. and a lot of folk ive talked to said that's why they prefer being db and not a receiver....some of the dbs ive seen have had some of the best hands,... that 'if dbs had great hands, they'd be wrs' is some bullshyt..

Y'all keep saying this without pointing out those 2+ times where they go for the pick and give up the TD :stopitslime:

:beli:

what i was saying instead of wrapping up your man after a tackle, dudes are just trying to rip the ball out now which leads to the wr, te, or rb 90% of the time gaining more yardage, the same for going for the int when many times just knocking down the ball would have resulted in a better play, you see guys going for the int and timing is incorrect and a completion happen sinstead of knocking down the ball.

plus to add on:

what matters is the whole premise of this thread and the situation/logic surrounding, as ive said time and time again, in jennings position he took the lesser of two evils in his situation, he doesn't deserves any of the blame. the blame (if there is any) should be only directed to the refs, the rule(s) and the interpretations of it, certainly not on the db.... that is what the thread is about.

PLUSSS.... this "if dbs had great hands they'd be WRs" bullshyt, how many wide receivers have made it to the league and they just some nikkas that can run fast with good/adequate/average/bad hands?
