Lol, you keep trying to angle the argument to make your position make sense.

Obviously if you can't make the catch you should swat it down. And you shouldn't be trying to make a hero pick.

however if the ball is coming right at you, you should make the pick and ensure that the ball doesn't make any unwanted ricochets.

Attempting an interception on a hail mary is just as risky as a swat. A hail mary is a pack of nikkas going for the ball. Swatting it you can change the trajectory with more control rather than trying to catch it and getting stripped, fumbling, or the most likely, the ball ricocheting off your hands witha weak trajectory.

Even if this is true, then that makes this thread null and void. :leon:

I disagree.. if the ball is coming right at you, you swat it down. LOL @ "angle". I've been saying the same thing the whole time. It's something taught to me at every level of football I played.

Are you ever going to post any examples to back up your claims? Or will you continue to dismiss the example presented here as being statistically insignificant despite the fact that you haven't presented more examples of someone going for a pick and having the ball stripped/ fumbled or whatever? :ld:

Aye Reb.. you played ball most of your life. Question for you -- did the coaches not teach the defense to swat the ball down in the endzone? I'm asking because I don't think most of the cats in this thread have ever heard of this.

Most of them said to knock it down.

I just feel differently personally.

So numerous examples of people trying to knock the ball down and giving up a TD have been posted, and y'all haven't posted a single example of someone going for the pick and giving up the TD, yet y'all still holding on to this notion that Jennings is somehow to blame?

Really can't use this arguement, because the play will just look like a blown coverage. The majority of the time when it happens it'll just look like the DB got beat because he'll be out of position from trying to jump the route.

Its hard to find highlights of that, but we know that it happens...

If you've played ball on any level you know that you're coached to knock the ball down in game ending / possession ending situations.

:snoop:

We're talking about a Hail Mary... you don't get beat on a Hail Mary.
