Is this test worth it for Africans? I'm Kenyan, will it break down what percentage of East African, Bantu etc. I am?

i think more west africans need to do it, because that would make a direct link between the two continents, right now if you are AA all your "cousins" in your profile are either AA or whites in the states or white people from europe

How much did it cost?

and it shouldn't be a shock that the majority of us have Neanderthal blood, only native africans have none.

The majority of African Americans no matter how dark or light u may be have white blood running through your veins thanks to 400 years of slavery and rape.

True indeed. Test cost 99$.

1.6% Neanderthal.

I did this when they had it free for African-Americans.

My 23andMe results were: 81.4% African, 16% European, 1.2% Asian & Native American and 1.3% Unassigned.

I sent my results to Dr. McDonald. My results from him were: 81.5% West African (Yoruba), 17.5% European (English), and 1% Native American.

Most if not all of my European came from my dad side (my mom is dark skinned). I was surprised by the results since I looked up birth and death certificates before this. All of them said either: Black, Negro or Indian. And all the Indian was on my dads side. I figured that's where his lighter complexion came from. I'm guessing he figured the same thing. Of course I knew black female slaves were raped but since I saw birth & death certificates of direct ancestors with Indian on my dad's side, I thought the Indian would be alot higher.

He was going to take the test but when I showed him my results he looked disappointed. That was a year ago, he still hasn't took the test.

What do I officially send to Dr. McDonald?

tell your pops to to take the test, im about to get my moms to do it because there are blindspots if you just look at your own profile, at least as far as your dna groupings

for example your paternal line just goes through all the males, so you and your pops have the same paternal line, but your pop's maternal line is different than yours, you cant see your pops maternal line by looking at your own and vice versa for your moms

and also if you hook up your profile to your parents profile 23andme will tell you which dna comes from who, so you might be able to tell from which parent the different ancestries come from, that is what im tryna do now

I sent him my file from GEDMatch. You can upload your 23andMe results there.

Here is what I got from GEDMatch:

I want to but they are in denial. My mom is dark skinned but claims up and down that "we didn't come from no Africa".

My dad is more rational maybe he will. He got me started on this whole thing. Before the internet, I remember going to county courthouses with him looking up birth and death certificates when I was kid. But he doesn't like white people much. He really thought he was mostly Indian. I still email him from time to time hoping he'll take the test one day.

remind him to take the test. maybe most of indian dna is actually african dna. also a lot of black people back then, were actually "indian".

His ancestry is probably mostly African and European with a lil NA. It's common for both blacks and whites to believe they mixed with NA and not each other cause of the history between us. We didn't really mix with NA's as much as our family's want to believe.
