Awesome! Whats the update?

Was expecting to wrap things up this month but with the holidays approaching and whatnot, it's probably going to be sometime early january. Also, I'm going to school strictly learning automatics but I'm kind of wishing I had went thee manuel route. There's some positions open in my town where they're hiring drivers for local positions starting out at $25.50 an hour. Plus guaranteed overtime. But they only want manual drivers...

Manual is not hard to learn. I went to an automatic school and after some experience got picked up at an LTL company locally. That's where they threw me in a manual and It took a few hours, but I got to the point where I could do the job. I asked for a few hours to practice before work my first day. Over a few weeks you'll get better and better. When I left that job driving manual was an afterthought. A lot of jobs now are using automatics though. There's local plant driving jobs paying $28/hour and they use automatics.

Being considering doing some aggressive saving by letting my crib go and instead just sleeping in my truck when I'm out over the road (which is often for sometimes a week+ anyway) and just buying a hotel room for a few days whenever I am taking down time (or crashing at a relative's place).

This seems like a good idea to me at least until I am finished with OTR and get a local gig. I've been doing this trucking thing for almost 6 months now.

Have any of yall ever tried doing this or know anyone who has? Any thoughts?

How comfortable is your truck. Is it more of a "work truck", or do you feel at home when you sleeping in it?

If it's the latter, then yeah it deff can be done. Say rent is $1200 to $1400 a month including utilities. That is $14,000 to $17,000 a year you are saving. That is pretty good if you ask me

Has anyone had any luck getting hired locally as opposed to going otr with a trainer and getting lowballed on mileage?

The only LOCAL jobs that will hire you with no experience is Food Delivery (like Sysco or McClane, etc) or Gasoline Delivery

Food Delivery for sure will hire you because of the labor involved
