I don't know how them guys can do it
Yeah you should be good bro just know with the apprentice program you gotta work on the dock as wellDetroit metro ...Yeah I've been thinking about applying at FedEx for the driver apprentice program.
Damn bro I just seen this you might have to go over the road if you would’ve just got your shyt then companies would’ve been OK hiring you in but the year off with no Experience it’s a good chance you might not get hired for a local position you could try a regional position that gets home multiple times throughout the week with weekends offNone. I got it about a year ago and haven't really don't anything with it but getting tired of these crappy jobs so been looking at driving lately but wanna avoid the otr swift/pams transport 41c a mile trash
Once you get your CDL and endorsement ( I need hazmat) then it's 4/5 weeks driving with someone.. at least that's how my cousin explained it to meBut since you haven't been in a truck in a year, alot of companies don't like that. Especially since you don't have experience on top of that. Because in their mind you may have lost some comfortability driving a truck, and they will have to train you for about a month before you are on your own
Give it a shot with the LTL companies, or Food Delivery. Call all the companies in your area
And if that doesn't work, apply to a Regional job (Home every week). They will pay higher than .41 a mile. And they hire new CDL drivers alot too
EDIT: How long is the Fed Ex apprentice program if you do it?
I love the dock lol I would hate to do a city route and then have to unload all the pickupsYeah you should be good bro just know with the apprentice program you gotta work on the dock as well
About a month and some change ago I went over to the TSA spot and got my fingerprints done so I can get background checked to get my hazmat endorsement (still being reviewed). Trying to get into the fuel hauling game locally or if that doesn't work out at least LTL.
OTR cool but I think I'd rather be local just for the home time and increased pay (overtime).
Definitely a caveat to that though. OTR is very peaceful and you get to do things on your own terms and pace.
Passed my Hazardous Materials endorsement test and ELDT training today. All that's left to do is update my license with the new certifications added.
Slowly but surely it's all coming together.

Haz mat cert squad!!! Good. Now come through and get this combustible load with frieght due on Wednesday that need to get Orlando.
The last driver wasn’t hz certified and the dock loaded with 7 totes of combustible when they were told not to.
Come through for on my behalf so I can look really good to the upper management that I went above and beyond (again) to get this frieght moving!
Yes my cleavage will be here when you pick up the load.
In that case hurry up and get on!! We need that fuel at the truck stops for drivers and other vehicles.

Well once you get your time in be safe on them roads.Unfortunately I have to wait a little bit longer, I believe. Those companies don't really consider you until you have at least one year of legit experience preferably OTR without any violations. I'm about 7 months in the game so I got a little bit longer to go.
