Would y'all be willing to drive an hour and a half to get to work everyday if you are making $27 to $29 an hour?

I’m 31 years old, I want my CDL so I can do food service delivery until I’m like 35 and buy a nice home. They make 6 figures in California. I know that type of work kills your body but I’m willing to go hard while I have a few more years of young man strength and endurance left.

You will always have a job as long as you keep your license record clean. Look for dedicated routes....Leave that yard dog mess alone.

Dedicated is really what I would have liked myself, but it didn't shake out that way unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately. Going all types of random places and all types of random situations gives you more experience.

You can definitely get into food service starting off if you're willing to do it but getting into LTL is better. You make just as much money but don't touch any freight. Only thing with that though is you need experience to be considered. Most of the time.

There's also a fuel hauling.

Yeah it's a process. I got experience in tanker, intermodal, LTL, shuttling trailers for a plant, before my current job at a car manufacturer. Just have to not be afraid to lose a job, and always look around to see what's out there.

Do any of y'all have trouble with weight control when you're out there over the road? I make it a habit to try and eat one big meal a day and I'm still noticing as the weeks go on that the scale is getting a little heavier.

One reason why I'm eager to go local so I can get back into my exercise habits.

Nothing to fix that but getting in the gym and eating like you're supposed to.

That's just how it is. You're not getting younger.

Intermittent fasting helps alot. Only eat during a window of 5 hours. For example 11am - 4pm. It helps with not over eating

Second thing is sugary drinks and food. Soda, Juice, Cake, Cookies, etc etc. All that sugar with no time to exercise it off is a recipe for :flabbynsick:

When you break down linehaul pay you legit are making like 40+ dollars an hour as long as you're with a good company that pays around 70 cents a mile (not including additional money for hooking up sets and fueling).

And that's all while being home daily, and weekends off (shifts usually being between 8 and 12 hours a day)

That's hard to beat.

Get you a portable stove and start making your own meals… Buy you a case of water and store them in the fridge…
