3 times last night?

yep

Yes, he was bothered by the 116-109 loss. But it was Waiters’ sore left ankle that really left him annoyed.

Waiters, 25, said he tweaked his troublesome left ankle three times during the Heat’s loss to the Magic. He eventually went to the locker room to have the ankle re-taped in the third quarter.

Waiters said he tweaked the ankle going to the basket a couple times in the first half.
...
Ultimately, Waiters said, he tweaked it three times on Wednesday.

“It’s weird,” Waiters said. “Just guarding and trying to get through a screen, a guy kicked my foot and tweaked it a little bit. I’m not going to make it a big thing right now.”

Dion Waiters says last season's lingering ankle pain has returned | NBA.com

I don't see how he's gonna make it the whole season playing with this.

He's not. He's gonna get shut down and get the surgery. Dion is hungry and driven so he's gonna try to play through it but Spo/Riley gonna end up putting their foot down.

I think they'll switch between starting Ellington and TJ when he's out with sparse minutes given to Williams, typically with Winslow.

If Okaro comes back, he'll be starting with Richardson as the starting SG.

I think they should shut him down before he does further damage to that ankle. He's had several months to heal now. Its time for surgery.

If this happens, does this mean Winslow starts now? If you remember last year when Waiters went down, Dragic and our offense struggled because no one else could consistently and aggressively attack the basket and make plays other than potentially Winslow who was out.

I saw this coming from day 1 of training camp. It was irresponsible of him to not get the surgery done, even more irresponsible on the organization's part if he wasn't thoroughly vetted by the team doctors prior to signing that contract. Duke was posted up on social media every day of the summer showing his workouts and then comes into camp talkin bout "yea my ankle still swollen :smugfavre:". We got snookered

Yep that's just foul. I blame the Heat medical staff. I mean he is known as the irrational confidence guy. Maybe he truly believes that it will just stop swelling because he says so.

He keeps saying "mind over matter" when he should really be running to the nearest doctor.
:gucci:

Maybe that's how Pat Riley got away with not giving him a huge $20 million a year contract. "Dion we know how much you love Miami but we know you're injured. Work with us here. I'll even throw in a bonus if you manage to stay healthy for 70 games. :shaq:"

Nah. Winslow is thriving as a backup point guard right now and I think allowing him to learn how to run our offense and work on his handles at an NBA pace will help him. He's gonna be our future point guard when Dragic gets traded or gets older.

Richardson is gonna probably try to be the aggressive one if Dion sits to heal. Hopefully, this will force us to use Whiteside a little more.
