Blow the whole team up and rebuild. Look at Philly and Golden state( before durant) they Built their team with the draft.

With what picks? :dwillhuh:

Do people not realize how valuable draft picks are now? Guys like Boston, LA, and 76ers stocked up on draft picks because they saw the future of the league changing and how important cap space was. You don't trade draft picks unless it's for legit stars now.

:mjlol:

Guys like Kuzma have risen the stock of draft picks, even late ones, considerably.

The only person who could get us a LATE round draft pick on this squad is MAYBE Dragic and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a couple of 2nd round picks simply due to his age and contract.

Y'all think people offering picks for a Whiteside Max of 2 years / 50 million dollars? Or 2 years / 30 Mil of aging James Johnson? 2 years / 38 million for TJ?

We got our picks for 2019-2020. The 2019 NBA Draft has 2 guys with legit franchise potential, and an additional 5 prospects with All-Star ceilings. As long as we don’t give a fukk about taking on salary, we can find takers for Hassan/Dragic and get back a pick or young asset in return.

It’s not certain, but it’s plausible Waiters can field a 1st rounder next year if he’s playing decent(14-16ppg/.450 FG%/.350 3pt%). It ain’t gon be easy, but we can definitely tank this summer.

Part of why Philly is when they're at is luck and timing. When you become tankwave you gotta go through years of hardships to MAYBE draft the next perennial franchise cornerstone. What happened to Philly doesn't just happen by purposfully sucking for a few years. You could just as much tank and string together a bunch of busted or underachieving high draft picks put yourself in another 5yr hole of no playoff appearances. If we're gonna blow it up, we gotta go about it intelligently. And if we're willing to blow it up, fans gotta be patient and willing to deal with bismal years and be patient with our young developing players. Philly had some REALLY bad years before they got to this point and basically got lucky with the timing and who got lucky with who declared for the Draft. Players like Simmons and Embiid don't just fall out of the sky and reward your team for sucking. The stars aligned for Philly ALONG with the sucking/tanking. Are Heat fans really about tankwave? Are we really about that not complaining when we get blown out by the Knicks, Nets, and Hawks 3 nights in a row life? If so, than full speed ahead of tankwave and I can only hope we hit half the homering Philly did in their draft picks.

:salute:

I am. I was dreaming about Fultz last year and then that streak. :francis:

Nothing. We got one of the most expensive cap rolls in the NBA tied up to either awful contracts or long deals tied to average players.

Who's trading assets to pay Hassan a MAX deal to make their team marginally better? Or who's paying 20 million to TJ to be an average undersized combo guard in the league where length reigns supreme? Or maybe paying money for guys like Dion who looked absolutely awful when he played this season and just missed the entire season due to a season ending ankle injury even though NBA gms didn't value him when he was HEALTHY and playing well? :francis:

Did I forget to mention Whiteside, Dragic, and TJ got player options on the 2019/20 last year of their deals?

Dudes is looking at these contracts like GMs just gonna give up legit assets for awful contracts.
Appreciate the response. What do you think would be the best way to fix the team?

I don't know. We're stuck in Limbo. I'd say try to trade Dragic/JJ this season to a contending team for WHATEVER draft picks THEY CAN GET, try to have Whiteside play his value up over the season and try to trick a team into trading for him near the ASB, and hope to make a real free agent move in 2019.

Resign Derrick Jones JR, McGruder, Winslow, Bam, and Rich.

I don't know what free agent moves we can make if this heat team is in tank mode and isn't looking pleasing to the eye of prime players. They don't wanna waste their prime years on a team that's in development hell, unless they're willing to see the long game and grand master plan Miami's trying to put together. I hope it all works out that way tho...

Watching Boston tonight, we were arrogant as fukk thinking we could compete with that team (even without Kyrie). :mjcry:
I was begging for that matchup. Cannot explain how humbling these games are :to:
