I'm guessing someone here has never paid their own cable bill?

I pay $20 for Cinemax AND HBO right now. For the first year I got it for $10 a month. That's with FiOS. Of course I have to pay for every other shytty channel on my digital cable package too.

But....

Unless Google's going to let you pay pennies on the dollar for all of the other channels on a case by case basis...this is not game changing at all.

Call me when I can get CBS ($1), NBC ($1), ABC ($1), FOX ($1), MSNBC ($2.50), AMC ($2.50) ESPN ($5), HBO ($10) and NOTHING ELSE for $24.

That's true a la carte.

Well I mean you didn't think it was gonna be perfect out the gate did you?

There are a good number of people (not me) who pay for cable just for the premium channels, and cancel when their show goes off for the season. With time will come competition. With competition will come competitive prices. That's when we :eat:.

Got our Google fiber installed today. very quick very simple. Honestly the speed isn't that noticeably different when when web surfing. I am currently downloading a 1.5 gig program and its downloading a lot faster than I anticipated. Seems like it will take 10 mins to download the file.

the reason the website aren't loading faster is because those website servers are not loading at their true max speeds and are really just dumbing down to the current levels of connection speeds

if most of the country gets on fiber then the speeds those sites go up will be much faster

20 bucks/mo for HBO is extremely expensive who the fukk would pay this? And I hope you guys aren't the same idiots crying about xbox live being $35/year.
Its only $4-$5 more than what my cable company charges for HBO.

Google needs to bless Lexington with that Fiber...free internet for 7 years would be insane for me as I don't even subscribe to cable tv anymore :russ:

hbo should just be letting people subscribe on their own anyway.

and i fail to see how this is a win...120 for tv/net + 20 for HBO...sounds like the prices ppl already pay for these services. and piecing together the popular channels like espn, hbo, etc will always cost more. if an a la carte option that actually would make sense to the customer existed, it'd be available. customers claim they want this, but when pricing is shown nikkas be like :whoa:

There's not a single stand alone channel worth paying for.

In TheColiseum everybody htes ESPN, now people wnat to buy a stand alone ESPN channel.
