Uhh, who else besides backpack fans listen to Tech N9ne? I attribute him to the backpack movement regardless of when he came out, Kanye & Pharrell are backpackers too
No it's not, that's just his fan base, tech is one of the most talented rappers ever, and your a sheep if you let white people stop you from listening
That's just the last few years though. Prior to blowing up he had the same fans as E-40, C-BO, Celly Cel, etc. He was a gangster rapper. At no point was he some kinda backpacker icon.

if tech9 was signed to aftermath with marketing to even more white people could he sell 250k first week?
That's kinda a hard question to answer. I'm sure he could be marketed and blow up on a mainstream scale....but he's rich as fukk off independent rap money so that'll never happen. Aftermath or whoever would gain a lot more from the deal than he would.
He owns a Bentley and never even went gold. I'm not even a big fan of his music but he hustled his ass off.

No, he doesn't fall under the backpack genre
He's closer to horror core than he is backpack
I would loosely associate 2012 horrorcore rap with backpack
The whole mystique of it is experimentation and underground and "out of the box", same objective as backpack rappers

It will never happen most likely but i don't see what him/aftermath(interscope/universal) has to loose if they pay him the same amount he gets from albums now. At the least they will make at least a little off his album sales that he already gets from his core base, and he will still make as much as he usually would. At best he sells substantially more than usual. He and the label both make good cake.

Making quality music and it paid off.
No Gimmicks, No cliche Club songs...
He has ALOT of females fans and he doesn't even try to cater to them specifically.
The only thing I hate is that everybody hailing this album as a Classic already. Its great and it may be a classic in due time. But I know that makes people who haven't heard him weary and with unrealistic expectations.
But I think he is a top 5 rapper in the game right now
and I'm going to see him here in Dallas tonight
