Robert F. Smith's investment in those Morehouse graduates will pay dividends for generations.
Him doing that publicly is what really kicked off the recent corporate contributions to HBCUs and Black initiatives. Even before the world protested the murder of George Floyd.
Morehouse College has been the beneficiary of several corporate and private contributions from alumni, other Black people, and non Blacks.
Several industry pipeline programs and partnerships have been established with them.
By default, all these measures are designed to benefit Black men.
And I was happy for them! Much needed initiative. Sad that the energy can’t be matched. Black women, in spite of consistently having participated in the workforce at higher rates than any other group of women in the U.S. since the beginning of this sorry country, have made major educational and entrepreneurial strides, are still among the lowest paid demographics in the U.S.
From cradle to grave we raise kids, have the highest rates of unpaid elderly care, receive the lowest amounts of support, and only get cents on the dollar behind every group of men and women. Only native women have worse demographics.
But if any assistance comes our way, if we are successful in any way, it’s somehow a plot to keep blk men down. Even a symbolic gesture during a month dedicated to women in general=fukk those blk bytches...
If this ever materializes, it’ll be good for our community. Sad to see people doubt this.
