No offense, but you have this older "white" Republican male mentality. You'd probably have a hard time taking orders from your boss if they were gay, black(males), or hispanic(males)...

Sure these minorities may not dominate management positions now, but the tide is "slowly" changing.

My current boss is hispanic. It doesn't bother me at all. He takes care of business and keeps everyone inline. I respect that.

I have a problem with my boss if he or she is not tough enough and the work place becomes undisciplined and unorganized. that's the only time I have beef.

Against younger people though from what I've seen...

This. Companies these days would rather high someone older (40+) than a youngin' (32 and under) because they know young people these days can be a headache (screaming about rights and shyt, and not being as committed to the company, etc.) whereas someone older would likely put up with the bull and be more committed. There's an Time's article on it.

Depends on the industry fellas. Firsthand experience and a quick Google search will tell you this.

Back to the thread. In regards to education, it is never too late go to back to school OP.

Who is going to know how old you are unless you tell them???

Some 18-year olds have thick beards and look like they're 30-35. Some 28-year olds when they are clean cut look like they are 20, etc..

Nobody is even going to know or care. Go back and do it.

Basically. I'm 24 and 2-3 semesters away from graduating, so I've thought about this alot. All the kids in my group at my last internship were 20, 21 and the last thing I felt like disclosing to type-A, overachieving, elitist cacs was that I'm older than yall because I was a fukk up at your age :yeshrug: Fortunately, I don't look a day over 20.

Alot of what "POZ" was saying is true tho. If you talking about IB, by the time some of those guys are 29-30, they done already went through being analysts, associates, business school and doing PE/VC/HF, started their own firms, or transitioning to the VP level of a MM/BB. If you're almost 30 & just starting out :heh: First of all, if you make it through, congrats. They dont accept guys that old unless you're military. Secondly, your life is gonna suck :heh: You're a fukkin relic at that point, and you wont be starting a family/getting married until you're like 40 because you have to work the 100 hour weeks you were supposed to do in your 20s. In short, I would choose something alot less competitive/cut throat than IB if I was that old. Go work at the FDIC/Fed Reserve Branch/BLS/CEA or some shyt :yeshrug:

At my graduation there was a 61 year old dude on my right and a 48 year old woman on my left. Both getting first degrees.

It's never too late.

So i am thinking of going back to College in 2013. Not for a degree or anything, it would be a technical school that offers job placement after you graduate.

I am going to go back for a 6 months fast track certificate in web development

or

a two year diploma in Film & Video production, I've always wanted to be an editor.

I have been struggling to get a decent job/education since i was about 20. I can't seem to pull it together. Should i go back or just move on and self teach myself. I don't want to be the old ass dude on campus....I feel like i should just move on from trying to play the game with schools and just teach/grind myself. Thoughts?

:whoa: Do not waste your time and money if you're going back for this. My major was Film, Media & Video Studies. It was worthless.

You will struggle to get a job with that degree and even if/when you do, the hours and pay will be absolute :trash:

I would strongly suggest you find a better choice of studies.

Yeah i've been thinking the same thing. All of this Video Editing + Graphic Design stuff is a waste of money. I can learn this myself. A lot of great schools offer distance education so i think i might start taking Political Science courses and work away at that. Plus, if i do them through distance education i don't have to go back to campus with a bunch of kids, and i can work full-time.

You would think.... a lot of companies want a young person that they can groom.

The Big 4 accounting firms are very reluctant to hire people over 29. In fact all the accounting firms are.

Investment Banks? Forget it. They don't want you.

Sales/marketing/HR--they are looking for young and beautiful people.

Technology and Bio firms seem to be less prejudice. I don't know much about law firms.

:whew: I got an out

Bro sales is where it's at. That industry is recession proof.

this is what i'm banking on. graduating in may with a meaningless degree but i've already been looking and have been offered those types of jobs. nothing to do with my degree but its the hustle and it doesnt seem like a typical boring office job.

i know this nice girl who graduated from harvard, just her school pedigree and decent looks alone got one of those pharmaceutical rep jobs... nothing to do with studies and easy as cake too and a bunch of young fresh outta college people that are full of themselves. made me laugh.
