fukk all that :flabbynsick: noise. There is absolutely nothing wrong with going back to school at an older age.

My only hope is that it's an older, wiser you, and not and older, :flabbynsick: you. Be the older dude that learned how to study and is killing all these 19-20-year-olds, not the older dude that still hasn't learned and is just kinda hanging out.

I think 29 is a little young to be worrying about age discrimination. :heh:

You would think.... a lot of companies want a young person that they can groom.

The Big 4 accounting firms are very reluctant to hire people over 29. In fact all the accounting firms are.

Investment Banks? Forget it. They don't want you.

Sales/marketing/HR--they are looking for young and beautiful people.

Technology and Bio firms seem to be less prejudice. I don't know much about law firms.

He doesn't know what he's talking about

I just went back to school, finished, got new job and changed careers. I'm 29.

I know exactly what I'm talking about.

And.... think about. I'm going to be working 80+ hours per week plus i'll be doing all the grunt work because I'm starting as a staff like everyone else.

I-bankers can work upwards to 100 hours per week. Does someone at 29 have that type of energy level? I hope I do.

You must have bucked the trend then huh?

:smh:

Yeah. I did. That doesn't mean that the odds weren't stacked against me.

The instructors at our school and the career advisers warned us about the age discrimination.

In my class, people who were obviously over 30 were having a very tough time.

If you go back to school at 29, and finish in 4 years... man that's going to be tough.

Its gonna be tough. Of course people want young good looking people to do shyt. That's just how it is man. You're better off now that you went to school right?

You can join the Army until you're 37. I'm not saying join the Army but I'm saying if 37 year olds can go to basic training, finish it and do the regular army business, you should have no problem going to school or working even 80 hours a week (thats a shytload and it may not be fun, but you know as well as I can you can do it).

Nice job finishing school btw Zeon

Zeon is right about the Big 4. They don't want to hire your ass if you're :flabbynsick: You work in groups and they're all young. They believe someone who is older is not going to be too fond in taking orders from a 24 year old senior tax associate:heh: It's not just a energy issue but can the person also get along with younger folks? You have to work with these guys till midnight during tax season. I can't speak on other industries though

That's not to say that older people can't make it. Besides me, obviously, I met a 36 year old senior, a staff that is obviously 32-34, and I know 2 staff auditors that are 40+.

Just know what you're getting into when you go back to school at a late age. That's all I'm saying. I'm not trying to crush people's dreams with negativity.

My new bosses are all pretty hot women who are my age or younger. Can you take orders from someone like that? Think about that carefully. I was manager at my previous job.

No offense, but you have this older "white" Republican male mentality. You'd probably have a hard time taking orders from your boss if they were gay, black(males), or hispanic(males)...

Sure these minorities may not dominate management positions now, but the tide is "slowly" changing.
