Exactly.

Let me ask you a question. Who played Malcolm X so well?

Nigel Thatch or Denzel Washington?
I’m going with Nigel on this one.
:hubie:
His lack of presence as a “big screen actor” is a positive. He brings a natural aura to this - whatever it is, he captured it. Denzel, we already know how he portrayed Malcolm - no one can top that, ever. but Nigel- this is seminal acting for him. Nigel could play the Malcolm of our present day. Denzel is already an icon.

This episode had me tearing up- Malcolm’s inner struggle, his own people that he was loyal to; tried to tear him down for what? Ego and white acceptance. my father lived during that era; he collected all types of memorabilia and photos, magazines. Grandparents are from Harlem. Places and people that were the center of a lot of movements. Sad.
That’s really how y’all see it though? I know I’m opening up for a long discussion with this and don’t want to derail this thread but I’ve never understood why people don’t see plainly why Malcolm got treated the way he got treated by the NOI. Even if it wasn’t his purpose he was blatantly disrespectful to Elijah Muhammad. Malcolm would’ve acted the same way toward another Muslim who did what Malcolm did. :yeshrug:

Im trying to figure out why directv gave me epix. The dude playin Malcolm us the best part.

Was Chin even doing the crazy act in the 60s?And he definitely wasnt the boss at that time. All the mob shyt seems sensationalized.
Epix is on a free trial from DIRECTV right now breh. All of the premium channels are. Feast while you can my guy.

same...pops was inspired by the schomburg center...the irony now is you can google a lot of stuff but it’s still great to have...he literally has a garage full of newspaper/magazine clippings...cassette tapes/videotapes of lectures...speeches etc.

in a nutshell...malcolm defied him for what he believed was the greater good...elijah muhammad was self-serving in his stance...so yes I understand elijah muhammad protecting his self-serving interests but it doesn’t make it right in my eyes...I used to attend the mosque when khalid muhammad was speaking and even as a teen certain things caught my attention that didn’t sit right...like why we were made to wait out in the cold while he gets to hop out of a bentley in a fur coat but like you I don’t want to derail the thread...on paper they are about the betterment of our ppl but still even tho I was young I saw things that just didn’t add up...slightly OT but this series definitely has me wanting to reread malcolm’s autobiography tho

after doin research, to this day i feel sorry for malcom
he was so loyal to the NOI and look what they did to him
him bringing up that elijah had sex with those other women was the last straw

make me think WHAT'S THE POINT OF BEING LOYAL :francis:

This dude was made to play Malcolm x, his mannerisms, his presence. He’s even light skin like Malcolm

a Malcolm mini series is needed. Can start with Detroit red and dwelve deeper than a 2.5 hr movie could ever
