I actually don't watch a lot of tv or film. :dame:

I only saw this movie because I had the opportunity to see it for $2.....and that's all that it was worth in my opinion.

In retrospect, it wasn't a bad film; but at the same time (based on the quality), it wasn't something that belonged on the big screen, much less something that deserves awards.

As someone who has a degree in math, I guess I was just a bit disappointed that a film called Hidden Figures had so little "figures" in it and the math showcased for the most part was pretty rudimentary.

Also, I understand they want to create a well rounded story but that whole romance subplot between Katherine and that military guy could have been cut and that time should have been given to developing the storylines of the other two women, who were by far the more interesting characters.
Then why are you saying it wasnt worth 15 dollars when you saw it for 2??! :martin:

nikka, there wasn't any logical inconsistency to what I said. :what:

And I'm dying at you thinking that two scenes where they talk about building a computer that will make the black women obsolete and ONE line about how many calculations an IBM can do meant any kind of shyt. Not a single CODE was performed in this movie.

And the math was wack. You're telling me you didn't burst out laughing in the theatre during that opening scene. :sas1::sas2:

do you think if the math was better/ more realistic you would have enjoyed it more?
do you think that with more realistic math the movie would have appealed to the broader public?

serious question "pickin your head as a math major black woman"
I guess I was looking for something that was more in line with A Beautiful Mind. The whole thing just felt light to me. It's almost as if Wikipedia was their only source material.

And the fact that it's getting all this unwarranted praise, low key makes me hate the movie even more. I left the theatre wishing I had seen Fences or Moonlight instead.

The most interesting part of the movie was the credits. How sad is that. :dame:

This movie was basically centered around the boring and kinda fruitless beginning stages of these women's careers.

You don't know what you are taking about... at all :snoop: I saw fences and moonlight, I've seen many movies like moonlight, it's a good movie but EXTREMELY overrated. Fences was phenomenal and hidden figures might just a bit below it.

Fences was simple at face value but the job done by Denzel and I forget her name atm carried the film.
