@Ms. Elaine Actually, the script was vetted by NASA historians who made sure the math was
accurate. One of the friends I saw the movie with is getting her PhD in biophysics and she thought the math looked simple too but.. Could you really do all that stuff in your head to 5 decimal places?
Could you (a) remember Oiler's method (among the dozens of other formulas he had) and (b) apply it to a completely new situation under pressure?
This movie was light, I agree with you on that but that isn't such a bad thing to me. Not every movie has to be deep and intense. And to compare it to A Beautiful Mind is disingenuous. Nash's story wss exaggerated to make a better movie; for example, he had primarily auditory hallucinations. Can you imagine how Lifetime-y and boring the movie would have been without all of his super dramatic VISUAL hallucinations?
They told the story accurately, had quality acting, and made it funny and touching. I suggest everyone go see it, it's a good movie and you'll learn a lot!
