In other words this ghetto mentaliy is turing many of us off.it's to the point we can't see any positivity coming out of it.
You can't work together with people who don't respect themselves. At some point you begin to say.we don't see eye to eye on some of the most basic principles as a people.
If we can't stand being around one another because inappropriate behaviors then how can we build on a collective level.

Why, so they can get sent out to get shot like the leaders of the past? The last thing we need is a so called leader. I swear we the only group who constantly cry out for a leader, no other group of people need a designated leader, so why do we? We just need to get the same page and link with like minded individuals, then we'll be able to get shyt done.

I completely sympathize with what OP is saying but I can never give up on Black America. What I can do is be the best person, I can be and guide the youth through working with the Urban League and other social programs that I am either the head of or sit on the board of. I can use my opinions and reach to teach younger people what I have learned and to exchange ideas on how to do better. The Black family in america is broken and we (Black men) are not successful as a collective, we shoot, rob and kill each other for crumbs, but I have also seen a young Stanford educated football player challenge the perceptions of the Black man both as athlete and student, I have seen us rally around the untimely death of a young man, and though far from perfect, we used our political power as a collective to elect a Black President and all that entails. I just think that we need to look at ourselves at an individual level and so the best we can do. We need to achieve and succeed at the same rate our female counter parts are and build from there.
I respect your opinion, but I disagree. I'm not into making lengthy post so it will be short. I don't think you can compare striving group to black groups. They have rules and principle already installed. And the idea of black people being on the same page and just figuring it out hasn't worked.
I gave up on my own nephew after he told me to go fukc myself the 29th time and deleted me from FB.

I think a lot of us are going to have to come to the realization that our social structure whether we like it or not is a Pyramid. We are unable at the present moment to make it flat. We are going to have people from the community (a small percentage) be at the top while the masses are at the bottom. I too, want a world where we have more economic power and political power but there are realities that we have to deal with. On mass we are the most incarnated and less educated. These things can change but it will take a LOT of time or a dramatic event to change the course of the masses. Talked to my cousin on the phone, total definition of being trapped. Instead of going to school and finishing he wants to smoke weed and hang out with nikkas who haven't finished high school. He is young but doesn't understand that once you get in the system as a Black man there is no way out. I'm not giving up on Black America, because I know we are out here changing the world but no one knows it yet. It's the (pardon my language) nikkas that I have the problem and I'm being so sincere with this. Baby mommas who don't care who the father of their child is, partying every night in the club, proud to be getting a check (welfare), celebrate a nikka getting out of jail instead of celebrating him graduating college ass nikkas, are ruining the culture.
