Giving up on Black America

I still don't get the self destructive part. If we've been so self destructive for all these centuries, why are we still here? Shouldn't we be near extinction levels by now? And why would I "give up" on a group I'm a part of? 
I'd be giving up on myself. The truth of the matter is that most non-immigrant Black people in the United States have been through so much strife that we don't have the confidence to believe we can stand on our own, both individually and collectively. From the slave ships to this very day, the hostility towards us as a group is unprecedented in recent history. Kill a man's spirit and he's nothing. Some of the militants and far-left wingers like to lean on this as an excuse for the lack of self control and production amongst many Black men in America. I would agree that that's a piece but not all of the pieces of the puzzle.

these feelings sometimes creep up in my mind when i become disgusted/embarrassed by nikkas Toming/c00ning or stories of black on black savagery but then I just remind myself of the positive examples of my people which brings things back into perspective/give me hope.

We've come very far, and considering what those before us went through we have no right to give up.
I think people are being too harsh on the OP though. Obviously he cares about his people, but there are times when everyone gets frustrated with the ills that they see. Its always better to build someone who you can tell cares up rather than tear them down and drive them further out imo.

Using the word doesn't reflect very well on those weather its I'm private amongst ourselves or around mom black people. We are creative enough to find another endearing word that we can use besides the word nikka?
I don't need a pat on the back from nobody when it comes to my views on how to collect to remove black people forward in a society that is pretty much against us.
Knowing yourself and who you are ties into the way you perceive yourself. The word nikka is a term for loser, lazy ,no good bums with backwards priorities. Is that what you want to be called or perceived as?
No call me an African instead of a nikka because I'm much more than
that.

Of course they will ask me because they're from the outside looking in and they know for a fact they would not tolerate anybody calling them a racial slur as a term of endearment but if they do happen to ask I'll just explain to them that its the black people disconnected from their African roots that like to use that word.

Did their people go through chattel slavery and domestic terrorism as well?
I have a lot of doubts about the black community because I come to a place like this, "higher learning", where I would expect a lot of negroes to see the light of day. And yet only 10% of people here understand what it takes for us to get out of the mesh we're in. 90% of people here won't even acknowledge what the problems are so how can we get anywhere?
