Those are the jobs that criminals, people with little to no education or work skills will take my friend. Picking up trash on the side of a highway you say? Who the hell would wanna do that.....a Felon who cant get work anywhere else would gladly take it I guarantee but we cant give him the job because illegals will do it for nothing. Same with prisons we was farming picking trash off the highway cleaning sewage any odd shyt that most muhfukkas wouldnt do are being done by prisoners for free how many jobs you think theyre taking up?

The main reason right now is because after the recession, many companies realized they could produce the same output with significantly less human capital. Being that the economy is so shytty, employees are more then likely to not complain about the extremely heavy workload forced upon them by their employers and will resort back to the ol "at least I have a job" motto to ignore the unfairness.

Jobs that used to be for teenagers/those with no education/those with criminal records are now being staffed by immigrants who don't even care about minimum wage because they are working illegally. Most of this country's workforce relies on the availability of those kind of jobs (jobs that require no education/manual labor jobs). Those jobs make up most of the economic opportunities, not jobs that require post-secondary education. Get rid of all the illegal immigrants, you'll see this country's economy be stimulated like never before.
All those Chipotle/McDonalds/Wendy's jobs, housekeeping jobs, nanny jobs, lawn care, etc. You know there's a problem with this economy when 16-18 year olds (people who really have the potential to drive the economy with their mass habits of consumerism) can't find summer jobs working fast food. Illegal immigrants do not spend money in the way that citizens do. They hoard that ish and use it to bring over more people, continuing the cycle.
Stop the outsourcing, you give people with high school education-some college more job opportunities. This demographic of people also spend a lot of money and fall into the consumerism trap. When they have more money, they'll be spending it in the US as well.
Kill a good portion of all the extra technology, you've now opened up a lot of manual labor jobs and jobs that require actual human capital as well and now you have these people spending more money.
When larger companies are able to grow from the increase in sales from all of these different demographics of workers and they have to take on larger workloads at the corporate level to meet their consumer needs, then you are able to staff more college graduates and those with professional experience throughout corporate entities..

Is the IT field really booming, it's easy to get jobs in that field?
There are more than three reasons. The current national unemployment percentage is an average. In some industries, it is way higher than the national average and in other industries, it is lower than average. You can't correlate three reasons for unemployment across the board.
