I don't even go on south street anymore. Last time I went the energy was so chaotic and negative that I knew that it was a place I no longer wanted to be around. I was just going to get some food but it just felt like something could go down at any moment..........a few weeks after that my therapist's best friend's son got killed in that mass shooting over there.
Philly as a whole is just awful now.
South Street, Rittenhouse, King of Prussia, Center City.....places where it felt like there was never violence, things regularly occur now.
Man.....sighs.
Center City used to be the jump off if you were a youngin. Even as a young adult, fresh in the 20s in the 2000s, it was such a thrill. Like the hustle and bustle, folks selling oils etc, skateboarders at love park, it is marvelous.
One of the best experiences I had down there was when the Phillies won in 2008. It was like the city was unified. You had dope dealers hugging up on Wall Street cacs, jawns kissing random dudes, it was something special.
Back then, even the most rough of areas, you felt like you could just get in and get out. Yes, bodies were being caught, and the city was crazy, but a different kind of crazy. More of a "crime doesn't stop, but live your life to the fullest, young bowy" type of experience.
Now its just everything I hate. Every time I see news about murders and crashouts, I get fukking ill because these youngins are not killing on some typical crime shyt, this is a whole different level of evil.
There was rarely a carjacking from when I was growing up, the only mass shooting was Lex Street and that shyt was over a burnt clutch, and folks were all about getting money. Nothing more or less. We were all hustlers, either being in the books or the streets. You had to have a drive in Philly, or else you were going to get run over. I hate everything about this city now, it gets to the point where I denounced the shyt because It's not even Philly no more. It's just a typical city. No identity, all the good places are shut down, poverty is up the ass, and it's just going to get worse.
There's something else that's going to be severe and it's going to have everybody eye's on the problem with not only Philadelphia, but the country as a whole. It's going to sober up the junkies, take the shiestys off of the crash dummies, and make all those "too good for the hood" celebs actually want to do something about the whole ordeal.
Until then, the clock is ticking, but all I can say is that there's going to be a severe incident that will occur that's going to get all eyes on the 215 for the wrong reasons.
