they speak as if he has an equivalent in this modern era
I mean Lebron been the best SF since he been in the league but he still had battles with Melo, Khawi, KD (sf at times), Paul Pierce. No different than Jordan battling Clyde, Reggie Miller, Mitch Richmond, Isaiah Rider, Joe Dumars was the Jordan stopper. Point is just because they may be Lebron or MJ don’t mean the rest of the league beneath them.

Prime MJ would still be the best athlete in the game TODAY too, and the fact that his skill set was so refined would make it look like there was an even bigger gap athletically.
On too of being the most fundamentally sound player in the league.

Kevin Johnson would give these n1ccaz fits. A young GP would give em fits

A young Drexler would give em fits

Kareem played most of his prime when there was a whole other league. And the league expanded during his time too. I’ve never seen him get criticized for that.
Except it is used against Cap.

You just don't hear those critiques as often due to the fact that the conversations around who the GOAT is typically revolves around MJ. If you had a whole lot of Cap stans (today) running about claiming he was the GOAT, then you'd hear more pushback around his credentials. The truth of the matter is, all the past greats benefit from time passed, where everyone glosses over their bad and emphasizes the good.

The same will ring true with Bron as time goes on too.

Now Jokic can give Dream the business.:gucci: I knew they was going to do this by giving him all them mvps over Shaq and the other great centers. This that bs

Where you getting this strawman from?

See now, this is really that dumb shyt.

How you gonna be talking like they handed him those MVPs when he was fukked out of a MVP in 2023 (because of voter fatigue and house nxgga voter narratives)? He then went on to have one of the most dominant postseasons in recent memory, capping it off with a championship, all the while that bozo in Philly shytted the bed once again.
No it’s not. The only time expansion comes up is when it has to do with the 90’s.
Except it is.

You just don't hear it as often because GOAT convos don't feature Cap like that anymore. You hear folks talk about the lack of talent and how the game was in its infancy during Cap's time in the league. In fact, MJ stans used to use that shyt against Cap back in the day. Now MJ stans fighting Bron stans. That's why the volume of what Cap has acheived has been turned down since then.

The game has got better and better as time has gone on. It's alright to acknowledge that. It's the way it's supposed to be. A lot of folks still stuck in the past can't get passed that because they don't want to let go of their childhoods.

If the players are more skilled now.
Like you trying to say. Then why would jokic not be this outstanding ball handling center. If he was shrunk to Jordan's height.
Because teams don't play 6'5" players at the 5 on the regular. That's why. The small ball 5s that are used typically are defensive ones. It has little to do with [offensive] skill and more so to do with how versatile they are on defense. Jokic [at MJ's size] being a bench player is an exaggeration for effect. I'm sure he'd find his niche somewhere as a player with how skilled he is, except for obvious reasons, he wouldn't be as dominant.

Once again, here you are hopping in other folks' conversations when you don't know what's up from down.

My point was to illustrate that his dominance has virtually little-to-no relevance on how the likes of MJ would fare in today's game, because they're completely different models of players. Jokic's main advantage of his comp is because of how big he is; how his shotmaking ability and playmaking ability is heightened quite literally by being able to shoot over everyone and see lanes/angles that nobody else can, because he has a greater perception of view.

His domiance isn't in any way shape or form relevant to the topic of the thread.

i definitely specified the title runs

in mj's mythology they most often block out the shytty beginning

& yes magic is an example of great timin to begin a
The Bulls grinded to the top, they got closer and closer in the late 80s then broke through in 1991. MJ lost to the Pistons 3 years in a row but kept getting better, no quitting, no teaming up with other superstars.

Where is the mythology?

No the fukk he doesn't.
Yeah I was trying to figure out what 80s and 90s centers he was talking about too. Jabbar, Robinson, Ewing, Sampson, Olajuwon, young Shaq, Mourning, Parrish, McHale, Moses Malone, James Edwards, Bill Walton and even Mark Eaton all seemed different than Jokic.
