One important thing ,

The business environment in Africa is 1000 times better for blacks than in the west , its like night and day

Firstly whatever you want to get into the people are extremely encouraging , as opposed to here where if you tell someone you want to set up a business they ate generally negative and will tell you a 1000 reasons why it will fail

No one questions your competency , this is really really important , you could literally be in a meeting and tell people that you want to start a venture for holidays on the moon and no one will blink an eyelid , or doubt you can do it.

Because Africa is full of black people that own everything from oil companies , banks to stalls in the market so it is seen as completely normal , and they are always always encouraging , not having to deal with the racism nonsense is the best , not having to constantly prove yourself , not having to deal with white business politics is the best

Strange thing as well is , if you are dealing with a company or corporation for example in America but your business is in Africa , you get taken much more seriously and dealt with better than if you were an American company , simply because the assumption is its a bigger company

There are tons of business opportunities , Tons ,

not quite, no African that I know come with the intent of alienating themselves from AA, they are too immersed in their own world to think about AA. It’s not malicious, many are supporting their families and are therefore focused on that.

the way you worded makes it seem African me come to America to slight AA they come to America to make a living. Many are not familiar of AA history, the second gen are more immersed and mingle with aa would have better understanding.
Argue what you want, fam. Im just telling you, when asked directly, they dgaf. And it's actually framed just the way you're doing it, like we should be ashamed for even the expectation of allyship, as in, 'Don't you see we're too busy to focus on your petty concerns.' ('petty concerns' = police brutality, anti blackness, basically anything but immigration) Its very 'rules for me but not for thee'.

So now we gotta invent compassionate capitalism too, huh? Do the Chinese and arabs share the same responsibility, or are we the only ppl expected to wield capital benevolently? :jbhmm:

@Nemesis, you breaking shyt down in here. I appreciate the thoroughness. :ehh: Thank you, rep.

I think id rather invest in a black country in the Caribbean (more social ties, greater proximity, etc).
Social ties and proximity are a positive for the Caribbean but in my honest opinion its not a better investment opportunity than Africa. A lot of the Caribbean countries are dependent on large countries like the US, so you are still exposed to burocrcacy and white supremacy.

yep , same rules apply , I was doing some business with a Jamaican friend plus my girl is Jamaican , and she does stuff out there and we basically experience the same things

I always try and give people a realistic breakdown about investing back home and to be honest I deliberately tend to be slightly negative because I always want people to be extra extra careful

The things that used to drive me nuts was the business culture , i have to be explicit about when Im dealing with my employees about what I want them to do etc... I hate going into detail but you have to

They are very very relaxed and dont have any sense of urgency , no one is ever on time , and for some reason even though they know they are running late there is more chance of Donald Trump converting to Islam than getting a call to say they are running late

NEVER NEVER tell anyone how much money you have to invest always be vague , always , try and give the assumption that the money is aboard or you may be borrowing money

Sometimes you have to employ relatives , if you got cousins for example out of work and you are hiring strangers down the line it will cause you problems , always try and put them in positions where they cant control money or cause financial damage.

The problem with hiring family is this ,there are hardly any consequences for them if they fukk up or steal from you , whereas with a stranger you can get them arrested

I just think that most ADOS who have never lived anywhere else, would be food in Africa. This won't be no get rich type scheme. You have to come there with money in your pockets and be prepared to take an L.

Thing is even if you are a local there is a high chance you can take an L the trick is to make the L a small one .

Im paying hardly any tax at all , many businesses dont pay any , even bribing people to get things done doesnt cost a lot of money , and Labour is very very cheap ... There are so many opportunities , so many

speak for yourself. If it's not for you, it's not for you. You can not assume the same fate for the next person.

This. ALL OF THIS. I remember telling contractors I would need them at potential sites for school construction and I had to say a time I knew they wouldn’t be there. Meet me at 9 really means meet me at 11. I remember telling principals I’d be there at 9 and being there at 845. They’d look at me like i was crazy for being early. You get used to it but coming from this side of the pond, it’s mad frustrating.

definitely not lying about having to be extra specific on how you want things. The schools and clinics contracts would be literally a ream of paper front and back. If drew them up for a stateside contractor, maybe 50 sheets total
