Watched it last night for the first time. Great flick. I'm sure all the symbolism stuff was talked about. It's crazy how picking cotton saved his life.

I could see the intent with the alternate ending, but I wouldn't have liked it.

Well I encounter lots of under-40 people (all type of races) when working, and they are all modern and are acting civilized, so how can I say otherwise?

Wow, you're either white or blithely naive. What are you labeling racist? Burning crosses? Nooses? White people are much more subtle and covert at how they express disdain for blacks now, especially younger generations. It's rare someone outright calls a black person a ****** to their face but they've found some really slick ways of letting us know they think we're inferior.

I was thinking the exact same thing. When they did that documentary on The Shining (Room 237 I think) they were basically saying there are details (even the disposition of the hotel, that doesn't make sense) that you don't pick up at first but that your brain registers, it "senses" something is "off".

Yeah it came out like a month ago, went to see it a couple weeks ago and it was packed. I think I read that they weren't planning on releasing it here (for obvious reasons) but the success in the US sparked the release here.
